Ghar vapsi or conversion as a dynamic of polarization for Hindu Nation

The failed ghar vapsi of Tadvi Muslims in Gujarat’s Dangs seat known as Sabri Dham of Swami Asimanand of February 11, 2006 directly led to the blasts of 2006 in Malegaon in which more than 36 Muslim children, women and men were killed. It was targeted because of the heavy concentration of Muslim. Other terror attacks were also a consequence of that, though it was not fully exposed until Asimanand told of it in his affidavit. Any ghar vapsi or conversion is the reaction of the extremists of the majority in whose eyes Muslims are an eye sore for having got a separate state of Pakistan but chose to live in India as Indians. Therefore the alibi of action reaction replay which has claimed the lives of thousands of Indians. This periodic orgy of blood bath is problem from hell, revenge for past enmity. The overall goal is to establish a Hindu nation where Muslims cease to exist. Pravin Togadia had declared on March 31, 2012 that Gujarat would become a Hindu state in 2015. It looks at the onset of the New Year 2015that the momentum has gathered speed. Parts of Gujarat and even Rajasthan have already acquired the potential to be dominions of Hindu state. News teeming with Hindutva comprehensive movement and its assertion leaves no doubt that trailblazer Modi/RSS is at it again. Pravin Togadia remains the ground swelling force under the rock and Narendra Modi above. Strangely but truly it is 2002 over again. Looks like that the whole country is on the cusp of becoming a Hindu country/nation. Waiting for a tectonic shift. On Saturday December 13, 2014 West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee asked her supporters to start protest against the arrest of Madan Mitra. "They (BJP) are trying to start riots in the state. We will never let them make this possible. What will happen if we (the state government) start arresting them?" "It is time to hit the streets. I ask all sections of the people including sportspersons and people from the cultural field to hit the streets,"[ 1] Familiar with the Gujarat pattern of arrest under the rule of Narendra Modi, Banerjee added: “There are photos of the PM with the Sahara chief. Should we demand that CBI arrest PM Narendra Modi?” In sharp contrast this happened on the day when police officer Rajkumar Pandian was reinstated as Commissioner of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in Mumbai. [2] The crimes Pandian had committed are numerous. He was involved in the killing of Sohrabuddin Shaeikh as well as Tulsiram Prajapati. Modi had declared in 2007 if killing of the gangster was a crime he was ready for the punishment. He even dared the government of Sonia Gandhi to arrest and punish him. The vibe of Mamta is matched by that of Modi. Does it bode well for India? If this literal state of vibe, a person’s emotional state or the atmosphere of a place as communicated and felt by others, is palpably there, then the moot question is, is India safe in the hands of a man who earlier boasted that five crore Gujaratis were behind him and is now entrusted with the destiny of 125 crore people of India? It is time to give sober thought to this. The youths of India who were swept off their feet when they voted him for development must spare more time for this. The faceoff with Mamta naturally is the pincer movement that Togadia talks about achieving: "To protect and prosper, Hindus themselves have to gear up, by becoming true practicing Hindus, aware Hindus and active Hindus". [3] They had strayed away in West Bengal by becoming mere communists. The tactics of using Burdwan terror angle to the hilt the Hindutva groups would move in the right direction. The arrest of innocent Muslims in the name of terror is proven strategy of achieving the target of Hindu state. This also is ghar vapsi, return to the fold. The other ghar vapsi is return to the Hindu fold. The Agra conversion was in the news in December 2014and more is expected. In this thrust the Hindutva is again following the beaten track of pitting the Dalits against the Muslims. Dr RP Singh and an anonymous man from the Yamuna river in the tape of Malegaon 2008 attack accused Dyanand Pandey and Lt Col Prasad Purohit speak of using the Valmiki community to slaughter Muslims in large number. In fact Singh says that they are very effective and have been used in Delhi often. In the case of Agra forcible conversion of Muslims the extremist Hindus of VHP used Nand Kishor Valmiki. He is also associated with Dharm Jagran Manch responsible for the Agra plan that created strong protest in the Parliament. It continued for days forcing PM Narendra Modi to crack the whip as the transaction in the Parliament was blocked for weeks. As a result the local MLA Yogengdra Upadhaya became instrumental in the arrest of the absconding Valmiki. Nand Kishor is a history sheeter with a 12 year criminal case of being a gangster against him. In Muzaffarnager and Trilokpuri similar persons from Valmiki community were used to create tension and riots. The border regions of UP particularly District of Kishinagar have very poor Muslims surviving on scrap mongering that hardly helps them to eke out existence. They had succumbed to inducement of getting ration card and some pittance for changing their faith. The Valmiki is the ubiquitous agent of polarization. The Ved colony is still very sensitive as the members of Muslim community facing hardship even after the arrest of Nand Kishor Valmiki on December 16. [4] Another version was that there was a warrant against him and a reward of 12,000 for anyone who could help in his arrest and the police were harassing his family so he surrendered .The first version would be likely because Modi had cracked his whip against those party members and elected members of Parliament and State Legislative Assembly who were reacting by making communally offensive statements. His motive was that the matter was jeopardizing his development plan for good governance and development and distracting attention and therefore he was keeping himself safe lest the extremists in his party overturn his apple cart. A third version is that the police and intelligence agencies were conducting raids at the RSS offices at Madhav Bhavan where he was suspected to be absconding from law. The other extremists like Member of Parliament Yogi Adityanath were egging on a showdown with the government: the ghar vapsi programme “is an ongoing process and will continue to happen.” Former MP of Congress party Nilesh Rane twitted “With incidents like the 1 happened in Sydney happening almost everywhere, India should target on converting as many people to Hinduism”[5]This in response to the Iranian sympathizer of ISIS Haron Monish killing two hostages in Sydney Swiss Lindt Chocolate Café on December 16. This clearly shows that Muslims in India are targeted even when a non Indian Muslim in the antipode commits an act of terrorism. Around the same time six terrorists speaking Arabic attacked the military school in Peshawar and killed 159 school children and injured many others. Dr Manmohan Singh had remarked in the joint statement of July 16, 2008 with Pakistan at Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt, that the two countries were victims of terrorism. For this he was condemned. The extremists among Hindus see only India as a victim of terror practiced by Muslims. They believe that Hindus by birth cannot be terrorists. They only retaliate to terrorism of others. What happened in Agra was also terrorism for the Bajrang Dal and VHP had threatened the Muslims not to speak of conversion to reporters. They forced them to say that they were helping the Muslims to get ration card under Below Poverty Line concession. The Muslims were under siege and thus terrorized. The third ghar vapsi is the spreading the tentacles of the Hindutva octopus. It is a universal phenomenon created by Narendra Modi assuring office of PM that those Hindus who committed crimes in the name religion must be taken care of and restored to position of honour, safety and security. Thus those who killed the Pune techie Mohsin Shaikh must be saved from the long arms of the law. Dhananjay Desai who was behind the murder and fatal attack on Mohsin and his friend Riyaz must be viewed innocent as the right wing groups want it. The scores of accused of killing Mohsin were members of Hindu Rashtra Sena. The Pune unit of the extremist group HRS invited Pramod Muthalik to a function on Sunday December 14, 2014 to present a reward to Desai for his service in saving cows. That he was a history sheeter with 22 cases of extortion, attack, etc. were not crimes in the eyes of the HRS. Modi had just assumed office when on June 2, 2014 Mohsin was killed. Desai had distributed a pamphlet calling for such attack and was also the chief of HRS and was thus arrested. Such act goes back to the early days of India’s independence. VD Savarkar was involved in the conspiracy of assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. He even supplied arms and paid for the air fare to Nathuram Godse and others to travel to Delhi. Jan Sangh was formed because the ideology of hate that Godse spewed in his last letter attracted many at that time. They wanted to continue the same movement against the creation of Pakistan and they had the same grudge against Muslims who had opted to live in India. As India could not become a Hindu country vis-à-vis Pakistan this group became more and more extremist in its views. Modi inherited the same ideology as a pracharak of RSS. It assumed a political avatar, Jan Sangh. The incident is linked to Modi because the SMS sent out reads in Marathi as paheli wicket padli (meaning, the first wicket has fallen). In the language of cricket commentary it would mean the inception of Modi rule is like the first inning of Team Modi in power. It assumes sinister proportion as Modi chose to ignore the murder of Mohsin ala 2002 genocide. Modi also remained silent on what Anil Shirole, the newly elected BJP MP from Pune, chose to toe the line of Modi of the Newtonian 3rd law of every action producing equal and opposite reaction when he remarked: “what appeared on Facebook was very painful. Some amount of repercussions was natural.” [5]Mohsin had nothing to do with the Facebook image of Bal Thackeray and Shivaji. Mohsin was attacked because he was a Muslim while the insulting image of Ambedkar and Shivaji was loaded by a Hindu a year earlier. [6] This in itself is shocking. But after having sown wind the whirlwind is in full force what with the governor of UP Ram Naik calling for building the Ram temple at the site of Babri mosque, another call is for scraping Christmas holiday and instead celebrating it as former BJP leader and PM A.B. Vajpayee’s birth day as good governance day, another movement is for declaring Bhagwad Gita as a national book, Pratap Singh and Sadhvi Jryoti calling Muslims as haramzade or illegitimately begotten, asking those opposing Modi to go to Pakistan, VHP forcibly converting poor Muslims to Hinduism, Pramod Muthalik honouring the killers of Mohsin Sheikh including Dhananjay Desai, Sakshi Maharaj calling Nathuram Godse as a patriot, Defening the Hindutva adherents accused in conspiracy and terror shows that the highest ranking RSS functionaries are not even questioned. Mohan Bhagwat and Indresh Kumar are the glaring instances of this. Such indeed is the convoluted situation that Lt Col Prasad Purohit accused in 2008 Malegaon terror attack says that he had decided to eliminate Indresh Kumar who according to him had been “diluting the Hindutva agenda''. He also accused that it was Indresh who had given his and Pragyasingh Thakur’s names to the ATS. In the secret meeting of October 31, 2005 at the Gujarati Samaj Guest House in Jaipur Indresh had met Sunil Joshi involved in many terror attacks and was part of the conspiracy to blow bombs in Malegaon 2006, Ajmer shrine, Mecca mosque, etc. The RSS chief SK Sudarshan as is the wont of RSS refused to accept any blame on Indresh saying: , "It seems there's an attempt in some quarters to brand some Hindus as terrorists to balance Muslim terror. This is part of a political conspiracy.'' [7] From hindsight it is confirmed that that conspiracy of 2005 led to the attack on Samjhauta Express, Malegaon blasts, attack in Ajmer, etc. it is also corroborated by the arrests of Malegaon bombers Dhan Singh and Rajendra Choudhary among others in the several terrorist attacks. It also became clear that even Bhagwat was involved in terrorist activities as Swami Asimanand asserted in his affidavit. As time wore on more such incidents piled up especially after BJP forming government at the centre. The conspiracy to polarize Muzaffarnagar and then Trilokpuri on the basis of religion to harness votes at election. In Muzaffarnagar all the seats to Parliament went to the BJP and now the Delhi election is scheduled for February 2015. AAP MLA Raju said, “[In Trilokpuri] Every time the violence subsides, BJP workers round up locals with exaggerated tales. People in this area voted for the AAP in the Assembly polls last December. The BJP is attempting to consolidate the Dalit vote here the way it did in UP.” Congress leader Harnam Singh, who contested elections in 2013, alleged that the violence was instigated by a BJP leader. “He came to Trilokpuri around 2 pm and members of Hindu groups began chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’. This made things worse. Two hours after he came, the violence began again,” [8] The Muslims had to bear the aggressive thrust of the right wing groups as some well known social activists wrote to the Lt Governor of Delh on October 26, 2014: “We are worried by reports that many young men are being illegally detained for long periods, and political representatives of one segment of the young men are being permitted to enter the police stations, whereas other lawyers and senior activists are not being permitted to enter the police stations.” There are two aspects that need attention. One that Trilokpuri is an area where minorities live and the tension and violence was used to force them to leave the place which is reminiscent of RSS boss Golwalkar’s attmpt to mount a more comprehensive attempt to cause holocaust in the aftermath of the partition of India. The RSS wanted India to be a Hindu country and not realizing their pipe dread to be viable then they used violence to deprive the Muslims of their home and hearth. The Congress party was very strong and the leaders were different and were free from the rank communalism Modi era has heralded in. another aspect to note is that RSS was a militia then also but they were not so well armed as they are now. They had fear of government cracking upon them and never displayed their arms as they do now. They also have bombs which they used in blowing up the minarets of Babri mosque. Therefore there is palpable danger to the unity and integrity of the country now as never before. The question of support from US Jewish lobby or Israel was unheard of. But in the case of Purohit’s secret understanding as a leader of Abhinv Bharat and other extremists there is positive commitment that Israel would lend support to a Hindu country with diplomatic recognition, steady supply of arms, embassy for such a Hindu nation in Israel, help for the move for international recognition in the UNO and assurance to fly bhagwa flag or saffron nationalist flag, etc. Furthermore there is probably some cooperation from Nepal in which the Nepal leaders and King in the past lent help in training soldiers to make another Hindu country come in existence. The Nepalese royal family even sent members of the royalty who had attended deliberation on a Hindu rashtra at a meeting in Gorakhpur where Yogi Adityanath is based and the Yogi hosted the meeting. Retired army officer Ramesh Upadhay of Abhinav Bharat was also present. Since then five years have passed and the resolve for a Hindu country has become stronger though it is still a hush hush affair but can be silent volcano for the time being when the BJP is consolidating its power. --------------- [1] http://www.livemint.com/Politics/V7zh7gD7DP2yF7hRf96s9I/If-image-is-proof-Narendra-Modi-should-be-arrested-Mamata.html [2] The Hindu December 14, 2014 [3] http://www.rediff.com/news/report/vhp-will-declare-gujarat-a-hindu-state-by-2015-togadia/20130401.htm [4] Inquilab December 17, 2014. Jashodaben Narendra Modi’s Ordeal: Celibacy as Hidnutva da Vinci code

True to its nature of a secretive and conspiratorial organization, the RSS has an arsenal of non conventional warfare weapons. Narendra Modi, chief minister of Haryana Mohan Lal Khattar and a host of others were leaders of various RSS function groups and were kept in the shadow and suddenly inducted into politics and chosen as chief ministers. Khattar is still a bachelor. Modi remained so for more than a decade of secrecy that shrouded him as Chief Minister of Gujarat until the election injunction of marital status information in 2014 brought to fore the fact that he was married. Willy-nilly he had to fill up his nomination form and that is how the cat came out of the bag. In Shakespearean obscenity it became apparent that he had a cod piece in his hose. Modi took shelter in the RSS headquarters in Ahmadabad after three months of conjugal life although his wife had lived with him in his house for three years. The father in law of Jashodaben told her to do her matriculation and acquire a teaching certificate and then take a job. As a faithful wife and an obedient daughter in law she carried out the instructions well for all the rest of her life and then retired and returned to her brother’s house Unjha, Mehsana. During her teaching life she lived in a room that did not have a bathroom and so she would wash herself behind the bushes at the door yard around. After Modi became the chief minister a ring of guards watched her day and night and prevented reporters from meeting her. They chased out anyone who pried into her private life. Her students were also Muslims in large number. She taught them quite well and had photographed herself along with parents who also wore the white round caps that traditionally Muslims wear. Her husband did not wear that cap to oblige any Muslim for any social function or courtesy. All this he did to prepare himself to be a leader (pracharak) from the RSS to be inducted into politics. The intelligence agencies took upon themselves the task of providing Jashodaben security after Modi became the Prime Minister of the country. The police had not bothered for more than twelve years when he was the chief minister. There is no official record that Modi ordered either. As in most cases in pogroms or favouring pliant officers and punishing as revenge those who refused to toe his line of action he made no records. The records were destroyed after dilly dallying when asked to furnish them. Such cases run into thousands as he had ruled his state the way he liked and not the way the constitution of India required. Of course, he did not do his rajdharm even after being advised by no other than the PM AB Vajpayee or remonstrance of President KR Narayanan. After becoming PM and having achieved detente with President Barak Obama even records don’t count much. However, the hamartia or tragic flaw came from his domestic and private life. As it usually happens in a Greek tragedy. Jashodaben through RTI act asked about the security given to her. Her misgivings are a disaster for Modi in the words of his predecessor, Dr Manmohan Singh. Of course, Singh had warned that he would be a disaster for the country if elected. But the disaster is turning upon him as natural justice. Jashodaben wrote to the superintendent of police on November 24, 2014: “India’s Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was attacked and killed by her personal bodyguards, because of which we are very afraid of our bodyguards. So we want the complete information on the guards protecting us, and if they have a copy of the order under which they are deployed here. If they don’t have it, then on whose orders they don’t have it. We need a certified copy of that order with all these details”. Her instinct for apprehension of security of her own life is based on what the wives of Haren Pandya and Sanjiv Bhatt felt for the lives of their husbands. Or what Samir Khan Pathan’s mother felt or what Kauser Bil felt when the Gujarat police snatched Sohrabuddin Shaikh from her arms as she tried to save her husband in a true Indian culture. She would better die than give up her husband. Or what Mujahid Saleem’s relatives felt when Narender Amin of Gujarat police shot and killed the youth well within the police station of Hyderabad. Like what Qateel Siddiquy’s wife felt in what was going to happen to her husband imprisoned in the Dagduseth Halwai temple attack in Pune coinciding with German Bakery bombing February 13, 2012. There are innumerable other such cases. What is in the ethos of the rule of Modi in Gujarat that Bhatt’s wife was scared when she heard that her husband would be kept in the Gaikwad Haveli which houses the Crime Branch where DG Vanzara was in charge? After all Bhatt was in charge of state intelligence and also in charge of the security among other so many things, the security of the chief minister himself. Similarly why should Haren Pandya’s wife after failing to get any comfort from LK Advani about the murder of her husband travel to Visakhapatnam jail to meet the so called dreaded terrorists Asghar Ali who was found to be innocent and yet had spent nearly a decade in jail on false charges of killing Haren Pandya? Shakespeare’s character Polonius has the answer: by indirection find the direction out. Vinita Kamte, wife of Ashok Kamte who was killed along with Hemant Karkare, says: : “There was a time when I was so desperate for the truth [regarding who really killed Karkare and Kamte and Salaskar on 28/11]that I felt that I should go and meet Kasab and ask him what happened? Can you imagine my situation—should I feel the need to ask a terrorist what happened that night—do you feel the situation has changed! I felt it was important to speak one’s mind. I just thought we would expose the system and people would take it forward. I still feel that people must ask questions and hold those in power responsible.” [1] If Vinita failed to get straight answer from Rakesh Maria of Crime Branch at the time of 26/11, can Jashodaben get it from the superintendant of police of her district? Again the puzzle is in the da Vince code. Ashok Singhal, the VHP boss, said that the Pope and the Vatican wanted to hunt and kill Mary Magdalene wife of Christ. He found that the Italian born Catholic Sonia Gandhi and the police were also doing the same in hunting Sadhvi PragyasinghThakur and other Hindutva leaders. Jashodaben for all intent and purposes is an honest woman. She is not tainted with Hindutva and that is why she is in such a critical situation, in a tormenting lurch. In contrast her husband was neither a bachelor nor innocent like Christ. There are two instances of telltale one is Modi’s dehydration when Karan Thappar interviewed him and his order to snoop a beautiful woman during her trip to Bangalore hospital. Modi is also an extremist nationalist party member as Parnell of Irish nationalist party was. His affair with Kitty O’Shea led to his downfall and disgrace. Modi has still not broken his code. When a journalist, Heena Deshpande, tried to do so years ago, she was threatened. [2] Modi has his pack including Ram Dev whose ashram in the Himalaya sheltered Jashodaben prior to the 2014 election. At whose behest was it done? [3] ----- [1]See the chapter “Will someone tell me the truth?” in her book To the last bullet, Ameya publication, Pune 2009. Hindutva & its ramifications

Hindutva is a continuous struggle especially against Muslim minority. It engages the Muslim through acts of belligerence calculated and focused on its object of obliterating or submerging the minority into Hindu fold. The main force behind the Hindutva is the hate ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh also known as RSS. The organization of extremist Hindus did not take part in the struggle for freedom of India. Instead it instructed its cadres to save their energy for mounting a juggernaut against the Muslim after independence in 1947. Gujarat came under the sway of Hindutva thanks to pracharak Narendra Modi when he assumed the office of the chief minister of the state. In the later phase of his stewardship of the state he was accused of ordering the fake encountering of Ishrat Jahan and three others and many more such fake encounters. He was directly linked to the murders because he was the white bearded that had conveyed the order through the black beard. The context makes it simple. A police officer GL Singhal did not want to shoot and kill Ishrat Jahan so the matter was referred to the chief of anti terrorism squad of the state, DG Vanzara. He rung up his superiors and cleared it saying that the order had come from the chief minister who was also the home minister and his assistant minister for home Amit Shah. For seven years the case dragged in courts because Modi had justified the murder and it was his state policy as Vanzara claimed it. The police were carrying it out and Modi was brazenly justifying it at election rallies. In another case more than ten years passed and the Supreme Court on November 5, 2014 rubbished the state government’s appeal for revision of the judgment on Akshardham temple attack of September 2002“Instead of booking the real culprits responsible for taking so many precious lives, the police caught innocent people and got imposed the grievous charges against them.”[ 1] Six innocent Muslims were framed in bogus charges of terrorist acts. Strangely enough they were given options to be framed either in Godhra railway fire accident, Haren Pandya assassination or Akshardham attack. Those falsely blamed for Pandya killing and Akshardham were Muslims. So the real culprits behind crimes could not be Muslims and logical inference is that even the Godhra incident was not a terrorist attack but was made to appear ‘Islamic terrorism’. Modi had used precisely that term in the case of 9/11 in the televised debate two days after 9/11. It was a universal fact that that Muslims turn to terrorism because of their faith and scripture was what he tried to convey steam rolling the interruption of the anchor Rajdeep Sardesai and others. This leads to a strong suspicion that the Hindutva terrorists were very much active even then in their strategy to mount terrorist attacks the blames for which would be laid at the door of the Muslim community and that would lead to their massacre. Given the history of VD Savarkar’s record of complicity in mounting terrorist attacks during the British rule and the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi this is not farfetched truth. The continuous struggle against Muslims can throw up very bizarre reasoning which is true of a community but at the cost of the Muslims. When Najma Heptulla was appointed as minister for minorities in May 2014 she remarked that Muslims are so many in numbers that they cannot be called minority and ought not to demand reservation or concessions. She compared them with the Parsis who face existential problems. Within six months her ministry created huge fund to increase the population of Parsis by floating a scheme called Jiyo Parsi: “Our institutions are gifts from our ancestors. They’ve shielded us, nurtured us and been backdrop to our way of life. But if we don’t all marry early and produce plenty of babies these colonies are going to be empty. Till other people move in it. Think about it. Then address the issue. Should you face fertility obstacles Jiyo Parsi is a 100 million rupee initiative to increase the number of the community, by the Ministry of Minorities Affairs in association with Parzor. Keep our Parsi colonies, Parsi. Get IVF assistance up to 5 lakh.” The banner of the ad is even more catchy: “If you don’t get married and have kids, this area will have a new name in your lifetime.”[2] In contrast there has been no such scheme designed to protect the life of Muslims who are frequently killed in riots and violence of all kinds including pogroms and genocide. There is no adequate help for families of the Muslims who have lost their life or lost their houses in riots and pogroms. Modi government refused to pay stipends to Muslims boys and girls for education as recommended by Sachar Commission. All this gives rise to the widespread belief that the life of a Muslim is not equal to that of a Parsis or a Hindu. Modi government allowed the evacuation of a Parsi family consisting of Rupa Mody and her daughter from the besieged house of Ahsan Jafri while the former Member of Parliament’s plea to Modi and Sonia Gandhi to save the life of all who had sought refuge in his house fell on deaf ears. All these evidence show how Hindutva cannot brook the existence of Muslim in the society. They cannot watch the Navratri dance even from the periphery of the crowd let alone participate in it. In this sense of “inheritance of loss” by the Muslim community ‘the 2014 election has really changed India’ for the minority. Hindutva is a political philosophy rather than a theology. In his book Saha Sonary Paney [Six Golden Leaves]Savarkar says that Hindus must shed inhibition and feel proud about being Hindus. Therefore he calls reviling of Hinduism as inimical to Hinduism. The first example of it is from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar whom he calls deranged by hatred against Hindus, and, then quotes him “The Hindus’ has been a life of continuous defeat. It is a mode of survival of which every Hindu will feel ashamed.” To counter this, Savarkar illustrates the bravery of the Hindus saying that for fifty years before Mohammad bin Qasim, Muslim rulers had attacked Sindh. Hindu rulers had repulsed them and in one such attack by the governor of Oman the Hindu king called Chacha had killed the commander Abdul Aziz. [3]So where is shame as it is not continuous defeat of Hindus. It is this kind of exhortation of Savarkar that Hindutva groups in the first decade of 21st century took up the slogan Garve sai kaho hum hindun hain “Say with pride that we are Hindus.” In the pogroms of Muslims by Hindutva a good deal of the enthusing by Savarkar went in the raping and killing of Muslim women and girls. As Babu Bajrangi proudly claims that he and his horde felt like Rana Pratap when they were perpetrating manslaughter. He claims in the sting operation tapes with Tehelka that even those eating rice and pulse [Hindus] could do that, namely rape and kill Muslim women and girls. [4]Modi took a cue from this when he praised the Chharra community in the late evening of February 28, 2002 that their mothers had given birth to brave males. The chief minister even went further and instructed them not to slacken their murder and mayhem on the following two more days given them to finish the genocide After twelve years of investigation Justice Nanavati saw no such abysmal level of barbarity in what is ascribed to Narendra Modi. By the by, it was Justice Akshay Mehta (the other member of the inquiry commission) who had sanctioned bail to Babu Bajrangi. Later Bajrangi was re-arrested and tried and sentenced to long imprisonment. This proves that Modi not only played an active role but also the chain of command principle implies his complicity in the genocide. The above statement of Ambedkar is in a context of simmering anger and persistent conflict between the Brahamanical order and the suppression and oppression of Dalits. It has always been there since time immemorial. Lord Ram had cut the hands of a Dalit youth and then beheaded him. Shambuk’s sin was that he had learned the art of playing flute and practiced it in open defiance of this being forbidden to the down trodden is an instance of it.[5] If the fine art of singing which does not involving physical contact with other human beings, is not allowed what about love! In The God of Small Things Arundhati Roy presented Velutha a lower caste Christian Dalit who has been giving small pleasure to high caste Christian Ammu. But he went further and consummated his love for which he was brutally killed. The outrage resulted in far reaching consequences. His father had been given an artificial eye by the patrician family of Ammu. On hearing about the escapade he plucked the eye out and returned it to the landlord and offered to hunt and kill his own son. Such is the oppression of the lower caste and how they are resigned to their fate. The shame and defeat that stung so much to Savarkar would pale into insignificance if the atrocities on Muslims and Dalits in recent times are put in contrast. There was ‘god of small things’ who lived and loved his beloved until he was lynched along with his parents in Ahmadnagar district. The saga of suffering wiped out the two generation without any one to mourn for them as Sanjay Jadhav (42), his wife Jayashree (38) and their teenage son Sunil (19) were murdered after midnight on October 21, 2014 in the village of Javkhede Khalasa-Kasarwadi in Pathardi Taluk in Ahmadnagar district of Maharashtra. The Jadhavadi is a scattered hamlet of the downtrodden. The mutilated torso of the youth recovered from the well nearby shows how the killers must have tortured him by mutilating the sex parts. His affair with an upper caste married woman caused the tragedy though the adultery of the woman went unnoticed. The hushed up affair made the woman anonymous and even the family name did not appear in the reports. But the fate of the boy and his parents is highlighted because they crossed the forbidden line that divides the families. So the honour killing that triggered the pogroms in Muzaffarnagar finally resurfaced in Maharashtra. There was another anti Dalit killing in January 2013 when in a village called Sonai three members of the community were killed and their bodies throw in a septic tank. They were sweepers. Then there was also the case of people beating a Dalit youth to death in the same area.[6] Whose pride and shame is this? It is history that pogroms 2002 in Gujarat started not with the burning of the Sabarmati Express; it was merely the pretext that Hindutva groups invented. The real flash point was that the Hindu karsevaks had molested a Muslim girl Sophia at the platform. They attempted to abduct her when they carried her towards their compartment. In the meantime, Muslims who saw it tried to intervene to save her, not for their honour but for decency. The resultant stoning of the compartment may be just on that account. That the extremist Hindus also manhandled Muslim vendors was precursor. Even the language the people used in the tussle was common, Gujarati. It was made into a flashpoint much later. The hallmark of the conflagration was Hindutva. The overall effect of the continuous struggle was and is to establish a Hindu rashtra or nation. In this they wanted to coopt the Dalits so that they could kill two birds with a single stone. The nation they envisage is one where there is no minority and the lower castes would be assigned to do what they have been forced to do down the ages of history. Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar put it this way: “The ultimate vision of our work … is a perfectly organised state of society wherein each individual has been moulded into a model of ideal Hindu manhood and made into a living limb of the corporate personality of society.”(We) This is nation building in official RSS language. It acquired a new strategy in the last decade and half. First the Dalits were pitted against the Muslims during 2002 pogroms and then came the reward of BJP winning strength in Gujarat election. Ashok Singhal of VHP preened on the successful result. He said that it would be replicated all over the country. It was. Muzaffarnagar, Assam and Trilokpuri followed in succession. Bal Thackeray claimed that it was he and his cadres who had shown the way to Modi drawing on the memory of early eighties and nineties of the previous century. Such was the triumvirate of Hindutva. Unraveling the mystery of the white beard, the black beard and the bespectacled clean shaved

Unraveling the mystery of the white beard, the black beard and the bespectacled clean shaved An interviewer asked Amit Shah: “What is the mystery behind your strong relationship with Modi? “That is your job to find out. “The relationship between me and the prime minister is as normal as it should be. There is no mystery between us.”[1] No one has bothered to unearth it because the wind of victory has swept like a whirlpool. When the dust settles down it would naturally make the terrain that Amit Shah and Narendra Modi have traversed clear. Modi did prevent the truth of the carnage from full exposure. If he threatened the journalists with the fate of Daniel Pearl his hoodlums also stopped Rajdeep Sardesai to pass the test: “I was asked to remove my trousers to prove whether I was a Hindu or Muslim.” [2]The chief minister was not so naïve because he was already much more experienced and therefore Sardesai is not straightforward when he asserts: “I’ve realised it was the Vishwa Hindu Parishad who was in control of Gujarat in 2002. Modi had been in power for only four-five months. I don’t think he had a hold over administration that he should’ve had. That I believe is something I have understood over these years.” How could such a senior journalist say this half truth? Sardesai was the anchor when Modi debated ‘Islamic terrorism’ with Dr Rafiq Zikaria and others a couple of days after 9/11. Ashish Nandi’s observation regarding Modi is also of the same circa. “It left me in no doubt that here was a classic, clinical case of a fascist. I never use the term ‘fascist’ as a term of abuse; to me it is a diagnostic category comprising not only one’s ideological posture but also the personality traits and motivational patterns contextualising the ideology. “Modi, it gives me no pleasure to tell the readers, met virtually all the criteria that psychiatrists, psycho-analysts and psychologists had set up after years of empirical work on the authoritarian personality. He had the same mix of puritanical rigidity, narrowing of emotional life, massive use of the ego defence of projection, denial and fear of his own passions combined with fantasies of violence—all set within the matrix of clear paranoid and obsessive personality traits. I still remember the cool, measured tone in which he elaborated a theory of cosmic conspiracy against India that painted every Muslim as a suspected traitor and a potential terrorist”. [3] Modi has since grayed and as a white bearded man he has also acquired the sobriquet ‘safed dadi’in his bureaucratic set up and his junior MoS for home Amit Shah is black bearded. Sardesai’s first book 2014:The Election That Changed India cannot change the fact that Modi was and still is the demagogue and his demagoguery has acquired more finesse over the years. He has held his tongue after becoming PM lest the truth would be out in his words if he speaks more of 2002 pogroms and the fake encounters he often justified even criminally. Hence the proverbial truth: “The speck in the beard shows up who has stolen.” chor ki dadi meyn tinka. He has been dehydrated once [2007 interview by Karan Thapar] over the mass killings, a tip of the ice berg being exposed on the screen. Another metaphor is the little hand of Lady Macbeth which the perfumes of Arabia cannot sweeten. What Modi unleashed in Gujarat 2002 to win the election he replicated in Muzaffarnagar and therefore he did not channel negativism to positivism as Sardesai says: “In normal times we would’ve thought Modi is a polarising figure and dividing people, etc. In fact L K Advani was apparently telling the BJP this, don’t make Modi a PM candidate because that’ll polarise Hindus and Muslims. But actually, in the times we were living in, Modi became a unifier. You know, Modi stands for governance, the same person who stood for polarising elections was now being projected as a governance icon and it worked because there was this anger.” The most cogent fact that militates against this is the track record of the new PM in office. He won the election on May 16, 2014 when the Supreme Court also acquitted six people who were imprisoned for 11 years on the false charges that they had taken part in the attack on Akshardham temple. Even prior to the election his lieutenant Shah exhorted the Jats to take revenge for their honour, hence an innuendo of ‘honor killing.’ Adding the tag ‘in the polls’, would be fig leaf that cannot hide the subject matter. Modi had succeeded in polarizing in Gujarat which his lieutenant continued in Muzaffarnagar 2013. This does not diminish the fact that PraveenTogadia was very active and thereby it implies that VHP was behind the genocide. But it is equally true that it was Jaideep Patel, VHP boss in Ahmadabad to whom Modi personally had given charge of the dead bodies of the Hindu karsevaks killed at Godhra. Modi also joined the strike called by VHP. If anyone says that it was a government officer at the railway station who handed over the corpses it is still challengeable how he could do so and why did not Modi prevent it. The act of omission in preventing genocide was complicity in itself. Modi as well as Togadia were actively engaged. The chief minister toured Naroda Patiya and encouraged the mass murderers to continue their action with vigour and not slacken in their work. This is active complicity. Any court anywhere in the world would have taken the sting operation of Tehelka to its logical end. The Charra community members averred that Modi did encourage them. The RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal and other saffron affiliates are multi headed Hydra and have participated in the genocide equally. VHP chief Ashok Singhal often taunted that post Godhra violence would be replicated elsewhere in India. It was. Sardesai praises Modi for delegating power to the young which he calls empowering the youth. But he forgets that Modi also delegated power to Amit Shah in the most serious situation of liquidating people in the fake encounters for the obvious reason that he was shrewd enough to know that chain of command principle in court would throw him in prison. For example it was the black bearded Shah who told DG Vanzara to take away Kauser Bi along with her husband when the bus was stopped near Sangli. She had thrown her arms to prevent the police from snatching her husband Sohrabuddin. This fake encounter case is one of the two in which Shah is charge sheeted. He also played equally serious criminal role in eliminating the only eye witness of the murder of Sohrabuddin, Tulsiram Prajapati. When Sanjiv Bhatt senior officer in charge of intelligence and security of even Modi confronted Shah with truth he became nervous and started fidgeting. Such serious charges as conspiracy, extortion, kidnapping, murder and destroying evidence are leveled against Shah. It lowered the moral standard as AAP believes but it is also a tactic that Modi and Shah would brazen it out by veneering the crimes against humanity with focusing exclusively on development and good governance.[4] That has paid off dividends in the polls but the judiciary has still to decide hundreds of cases. One way to skirt it was what I wrote in my book Narendra Modi and his pack, the terror streak (2013): “The Sangh [RSS] chose Modi to fight ten years later because his charisma was so enchanting that the Hindutva group felt that by winning the election they would get another clean chit for what had happened then. Thousands of cases are still pending in Gujarat or in the Supreme Court or in Bombay high court. By having Modi at the helms of affair of the country only he could sweep all the cases under the carpet of the mania for development.”[Chapter 1] The man with real record of attempting to shield Modi is the clean shaved Arun Jaitley. He has even written letters to Prime Minister when Modi was most vulnerable. He wove such legal arguments with great pains and drawing on his legal acumen that the genocide cases have been either prolonged or the recommendations of the amicus curiae have not been followed up. It is understatement that “Despite being party president, Shah remains chargesheeted in two cases of murder on which he is said to be informally advised by Jaitley.” [5] There has been a whole battery of legal experts employed to tackle the numerous cases including such ones as Tushar Mehta (Advocate General), S Gurumuthy, S Ram, Ram Jethmalani, etc. Shah served time in prison and was given bail plus freedom to canvas even when he was involved in murders and was capable of destroying evidence and obstructing justice from outside his state as well. More than a dozen police officers accused in serious charges are now reinstated in their posts are most probably doing what is logically possible, saving their necks as well as their seniors and political bosses. Modi was so agitated at times that he would let truth slip out of his tighter control over cover up. He was attending a grand function of inauguration of the Police University when he abruptly left the function and went in a huddle. Jaitley had 400 journalists dine with him. He had contacts with many more. If media played a major role in the victory it is balanced by the saffrom groups. No one would like him or his leader come to any harm. Are there still enough independent free lance journalists to reveal the mystery? Burdwan conundrum: Modi checkmating Mamta and marginalizing Muslims

The witch hunt mounted over the Burdwan blasts is willful pursuit of inanity. The PM and his bête noire Congress party were and still are a captive of the chasing the chimera. It is because the whole investigation system is skewed. It has sworn to go after the Muslims no matter what is the reality on ground. The classic case is Malegaon 2006 blasts in which the ATS and CBI along with their cohorts in the local police summoned the police informers from the City Police Station neighbourhood Central talkies Idgah) notorious for brothels, gambling dens and sundry illegal practices. They asked them to sign blank papers accusing Shabbir Masiullah of stocking RDX. The cops collected the soil from the workshop which they alleged contained traces of RDX. On this pretext nine accused in the case languished in jail for more than five years until NIA officer Pramod Mane came on the scene. He reportedly questioned the witness and found that they were ordered to do what the police wanted. They had not been there at the workshop and had not seen anything. It was this that proved that blaming innocent Muslims was the game the police and hence the state and centre home ministries were playing in politics. For more than a fortnight before the blasts Shabbir Masiulllah was in jail. The police did not bother to keep watch on the work shop let alone preempt the bomb attack. Where police play such proactive role in terrorism what can one hope of fairness? It bears upon Burdwan blasts. The record of sale of improvised explosives would have shown the clientele of the accused. If they were manufacturing explosives and selling, the sleuths could then obtain the record of the clients using the services of the accused that could tell the truth to the world. If the accused were really making bombs even improvised ones there must be some record of their past deeds. Business like this cannot be said to be limited to any community. Unlike the Nanded blasts of 2006 where the RSS workers were assembling bombs for use the next day in Aurangabad, Burdwan must have some past history. Or else it is a clandestine illegal business of improvised explosives used for mining or any industrial purposes. That they were supplying for use against Shaikh Hasina government is fairy tale. But the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has had a brief of giving ultimatum to chief minister Mamta Banerjee now under duress since Modi administration has its own agenda of fighting terror a la US like Vajpayee administration was doing earlier in the beginning of the previous decade when it banned Students Islamic Movement of India despite nil or zero record of terror of the much maligned organization of Muslims. There is further parallel. After the arrest of Zabiuddin Ansari aka Abu Jundal the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar refused to take his custody though he was under pressure from the Delhi police. Zabi was arrested for links with the Darbhanga module. The chief minister refused to buy this theory and remained firm. Modi had threatened to punish him for his betrayal as Kumar had broken the alliance with BJP. Bomb blasts which followed surprised everyone as Bihar had had no such attacks before. This is how the nefarious theory of the US began to have its effect in India: either you are with us in our ‘war on terror’ or you are against us and are allied to the ‘terrorists.’ This is not improbable as Zabi was a police informer and police informers have played leading role in causing blasts and in conspiracy leading to it. So the logical inference that TMC must fight terrorism the way BJP government wants. Doval’s predecessor MK Narayanan had succeeded in stymieing the investigation of Haryana police which was on the verge of arresting Hindutva terrorists behind the Samjhauta Express attack on February 18, 2007. He said it was in the interest of the country. So another inference: he who pays the piper calls the tune. The Home Ministers of Maharashtra RR Patil and central government HM Shivraj Patil have played havoc in the so called ‘war on terror’ but no “tough message” was served to the respective governments. [1] So why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi picking on Mamata? In contrast to West Bengal, Gujarat has had too many teeming issues of terrorism sub rosa. There were two Gujarat state guest houses at Mt Abu and Jaipur which prominently figured along with the Dangs ashram of Swami Asimanand. The second most important leader of RSS Indresh Kumar was present in the Gujarat samaj guest house of Jaipur where the conspiracy to bomb Malegaon was hatched. Again inquiry was stalled because of far reaching ramification. Lt Col Prasad Purohit had suspected that Indresh Kumar had given his name and that of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur to police for their involvement in bomb blasts in Malegaon 2008. [2] Kumar was also accused of mentoring and financing Malegaon and Samjhauta Express blasts.[3] Similar meetings were also held in Dangs ashram in Gujarat. Why did not any one send “tough message” to Modi who was chief minister. One chief minister is as good or bad as another in fighting terrorism. Are the 37 audio and three video clips recovered from Dyanand Pandy’s lap top not enough of corroborating evidence against Purohit, Indresh Kumar and a host or others? They clearly show that Asimanand, Pandy, Purohit and others knew each other well and what is even more damning knew what they were up to in regards to the bomb attacks of past and future. Others included in the contexts are Ramchandra Kalsangra, Sandeep Dange and Sunil Joshi and like Asminand they absconded and have not been so far traced though Asamanand was. Joshi was killed in the end of 2007. In his own confession Asimanand says unmistakably that Mohan Bhagwat was doing the same work that Asimanand wanted extremist Hindus to do: blow bombs to kill Muslims. Since then Bhagwat has risen to the top post of RSS, Neither he nor his RSS is termed terrorist! This despite the fact that 4 of the five cell phones used by the terrorists were traced to RSS paracharaks, Dange ( district pracharak of RSS in Shajapur MP) and ChandraKant Leve ( contact man of the same district for RSS). Burdwan phenomenon is not anything but a political move against Mamta Banerjee who has been broadminded and shown concern for Muslim problems including Nandigram atrocities on Muslims. Tata left the special economic zone and was warmly welcomed by Modi in a tit for tat. RSS ideology is against the third front or regional parties. In its vision of Akhand Bharat the third front is a serious challenge because its neutrality in dealing with Muslims and the appeasement of the minority is a political stunt that is always bandied to and fro between the Congress and BJP for their bipartisan considerations. Mamta Bajerjee is one of the invitees of Imam Bukhari for this reason. She has also rubbished the claim made by NIA and the BJP regarding the Burdwan case. She has refused to play into the hands of Modi although she is ready for thorough inquiry into the blasts and the consequences. As chief minister of Gujarat Modi had been playing terror politics. He used the Sohrabuddin fake encounter and not only justified the killing but also dared to the central government to prosecute him. There was hardly a month for the last twelve years when he did not do something or the other to either punish fair minded police officers or antagonize the Muslim community. Since becoming PM of India Modi has not only allowed Bhagwat to use the Doordarshan channel but also justified it and praised Bhagwat. Viwing Bhagwat in the light of the disclosure of his involvement in terror Modi has dared to do what Pakistan has done when it allowed Maulana Masood Azhar address the police and army. Expecting Muslim to stomach all this is asking for the impossible. It is here that the Imam Bukhari invitation to Nawaz Sharif but not Modi comes in the picture. "People voted for Modi for development, employment opportunities, controlling inflation and inclusiveness. But his conduct since taking over has been unbecoming of a PM. He has indulged in divisive politics and had not controlled hate mongering." Bukhari goes on "Modi claims to be the prime minister of 125 crore Indians but conveniently and deliberately avoids addressing Muslims. He has shown he doesn't like us. He is the one who has been maintaining distance from the community. So, I too chose to maintain my distance." Even the most sycophantic Muslim clerics who tried to offer him to wear the round white skull cap could not succeed in reaching him. He has adamantly withheld the scholarship sanctioned to Muslims under Sachar Commission recommendation. He even dismissed the full blown and state sponsored genocide as puppies getting killed. “I have not invited PM Narendra Modi as Muslims have not forgiven himfor the Gujart riots. Modi has not shown any guilt for the Gujarat 2002 riots.”[4] If it were only thus far it would not have been so out of the way. But Modi has shown greater care for the Sikh by enhancing the amount of compensation being paid to the families of Sikhs killed in 1984 massacre, 5 lakh for each Sikh killed in addition to three lakh and fifty thousand that the previous Congress government under Dr Manmohan Singh had done. In his own state he paid Muslims killed in the pogroms one lakh rupees and for Hindus two lakhs. Many Muslims did not get anything. Though he did not call 1984 killings as genocide but he called the Sikh as our very own while he never showed such intimacy with the Gujarati speaking Muslims of his own state. Dorothy Nussbaum in her book The Clash With has observed that when the Sabarmati Express fire incident took place there was hardly any difference between Hindus and Muslims. Both spoke the same language and what is more the Muslims in Signal Falia let the people collect water from their well to douse the fire. Modi called them criminals. For Sikhs he has this to say: "Our own people were murdered, the attack was not on a particular community but on the entire nation… It was like a dagger pierced through India's chest. [ 5] Syed Ahmad Bukhari cannot be speaking on behalf of all the Muslims when he said that the Muslims have not forgiven Modi and that “he may have been elected the PM but the Muslims of India do not accept him.”[6] Despite this Modi’s “our own people” in the case of Sikhs and ‘puppies’ (Muslims) is burnt into the flesh of Muslims as a mark of spite of the PM for the Muslims. So his strategy to chase Mamta Banerjee government in the case of Burdwan is understandable since the PM has maintained hunting with the hounds and playing with the hare tactics as he said in a blue moon that the Muslims were born here and would die here. That is enough of eyewash! Checkmating Mamta or enhancing compensation to Sikhs cannot hide the truth that the massacre of 2002 in Gujarat was genocide as was 1984 pogroms against Sikhs. To focus on Sikhs is to eclipse much nearer in time the holocaust in Gujarat. As the 25th anniversary of Bhagalpur massacre also is in news it is pertinent to know that it was genocidal for only Muslims were killed or maimed. There was no Hindu casualty or loss of property. West Bengal and Assam are in the news because of the pre-election 2014 carnage in Assam and the intelligence generated that Al Qaida will target Assam but the undercurrent is that concentration of Muslims will lead to further division. Modi celebrated Sardar Patel birth anniversary by sidelining the assassination of Indira Gandhi because it was Patel who prevented a Muslim state taking shape in Hyderabad princely state where tens of thousands of Muslims were killed to achieve just that. What the Provincial Armed Constabulary did in Hashimpura or what the mobs did in Bhagalpur was replay of history of September-October 1948: "At a number of places members of the armed forces [ during the police action in Hyderabad] brought out Muslim adult males from villages and towns and massacred them in cold blood."According to the Sunderlal report 40, 000 Muslims were butchered.[7] Modi imitated Patel in 2002 where he purportedly finished once for all the equation between Muslims and Hindus in the time of communal riots by letting the police abstain from taking action so that maximum massacre would take place three days that would break the back of Muslims once for all. Not less than 3000 Muslims lost their lives on account of the procrustean injunction. The apathy of Muslims in confronting genocide in Gujarat 2002 Ominous parallels

Most meticulously preplanned genocide of Muslims in Gujarat 2002 passed into history by sheer apathy of Muslims of India. Their benighted leadership and self indulgent ignorant community made no headway. They could not make Sonia Gandhi, president of Congress party, to even privately meet the Ahsan Jafri family in their despair and loss. The slain Member of Parliament was from her party. The BJP despicably ignored him by refusing any mention any regret let alone a motion of mourning on his death. All this happened due to the rudderless community floating in stormy sea of communalism. What was more aggravating: the defiant and cruel rule in the state of Gujarat which used its state machinery to conduct the genocide thanks to the brazen and complicit role of the chief Minister, Narender Modi, was left unbridled by the central government. Furthermore, Modi had the temerity to muster hard core elements in his party to virtually brow beat the prime minister in the Goa conclave into toeing their line of let alone sacking him as chief minister but applauding him and retorting Muslims for their wont for not living with their neighbours in peace and tolerance. This kind of Nazi like behavior along with the pogroms of 2002 needs an exhaustive analysis of what caused the genocide and what really happened, the guilty and how the evil deeds have continued as examples pile up from post Modi scenario in the state of Gujarat, confirming Shakespeare’s dictum that the evil men do lives after them and continues to cast ominous shadows hereafter. There has been enough genocide in the world. They corroborate what the victims suffered at whose hands and for what. Writing on one such Leonard Peikoff observes in his book The Ominous Parallels “We dare not brush aside un-explained a horror such as Nazism.” Unfortunately against the background of the ascendance of Modi as PM writing about the genocide is not in “today’s mainstream. They will be part of tomorrow’s”. These words of Ayn Rand are part of the parallel to the rise of neo Nazism of after the World War Second but holds truth for Gujarat and the country under Modi. [1] There have been two genocides in India, Sikh genocide of 1984 and that of Gujarat 2002. The second was modeled on the first among the most corroborative evidence is the stipulated three days of the second in emulation of the first. The Muslims were entrenched in terrorism cases ascribed to them while it was the work of the Hindutva. Implicating innocent Muslims in such cases including the notorious fake encounters of Gujarat overwhelmed the minority community. In contrast the Sikhs were not besieged after the genocide of 1984. They retaliated more martially in the Khalistan movement of Sant Bhindranwale. But their resources were intact and there was no boycott against them. After lapse of 30 years they have not left the matter to oblivion by reaching the august portals of the UNO by their report covering: “pre-planned and deliberate killings of the Sikh community in 19 States of India, eyewash investigations by the successive governments, zero convictions and the failure of the Supreme Court to take cognisance of thousands of deaths during the first week of November 1984.” [2] Ominous parallels between the gas chambers of Auschwitz and the black hole of Naroda Patia or the inferno of Sardarpura are comparable. In the gas chambers of Nazis there were mushroom-shaped lids of vents through which they poured the amethyst-blue crystals of hydrogen cyanide upon the 2000 victims packed like sardines in the chamber. The fatal gas slowly started “delousing” them or “bathing” them. They were lured into believing that they would be bathed and cleaned and freshened. The Jews “piled up in one blue clammy blood-spattered pyramid, clawing and mauling each other even in death.” [3] But there are obvious differences. In the dry well of Naroda Patia the Muslims were forced to gather at the dry well at the point of gun by Babu Bajrangi-Maya Kodnani gangs of murderers. Then the petrol they had obtained from the State Transport Bus Workshop was poured on them. The Muslims hugged each other and then raised their arms to heaven for His mercy and knowing that their extinction was at hand they embraced each other and had a fiery funeral. There were some 800 of them. There were so many killed at Naroda Patia that the Commissioner of Police PC Pandey ordered the corps to be scattered to other places to lessen the casualty figure. In Sardarpura Muslims were decoyed by the Patels into believing that they would be sheltered. They were then locked into a single hall and a live electric wire attached to a rod was thrown into it. More than 30 were burnt alive. There was no electricity pole or connection there earlier. It was procured urgently on February 27, 2002 specifically for what would happen on the following day. In the case of the Sikhs in 1984 they were caught and their turbans and hair were doused with petrol and then burnt killing the hapless gruesomely. The militant Sikhs assassinated Indira Gandhi and General Vaidya. The Muslims did nothing of the sort. The allegation that the Muslims in the refugee camps like Juhapura would turn to terrorism proved to be false. It was this stasis in one sided suffering that generated the anguish of Akrabuddin Oweisi of AIMIM when he spoke of his helplessness in the face of untold suffering in his own Hyderbad. “I was hit by three bullets. One of them is still in my body. I was stabbed 70 times on my stomach; I was struck 40 times on my hand. My liver was punctured. My intestine came out of the stomach, 15 feet in length was cut to only 5 feet. I have trouble in eating. There is no iron in my blood. As a result there is dark before my eyes and I have instances of fit occasionally and I faint and fall.” All this happened to him in communal violence. Referring to violence perpetrated on Muslims and the boycott against them is enforced, he says “my heart feels it, it is disturbed and I feel anger at it and want to take it out on those who cause this. But when will the time come when we can avenge this?” Twenty five cror Muslims of the country are unsuccessful to sensitize the others about their plight. [4]This is placed in the context of Modi calling Muslims as puppies who come under the car and get killed and Praveen Togadia calling Akbaruddeen Oweisi as a dog of Hyderabad as well as how Muslims were targeted by bomb attacks in Malegaon and they alone were blamed for what they suffered. Like Slobodan Milosevic, Modi in April aroused the passions of extremists in Assam by threatening to expel the ‘illegal’ Bengali Muslims settled there while he did not bother about the Hindu refugees settled there. In 2011 the then chief minister Tarun Gogoi of Assam won election in Barak valley by declaring refugee status to Bangladeshi Hindus. Modi went beyond in his speech when he accused Mamta Banerjee and Congress: “You are concerned about infiltrators and not your own people ... they must go back, they are robbing the youths of India of their livelihood.” [5] That was on May 4, 2014 when Modi justified killing of 50 Muslims in Assam that started on May 1. This was in sequence to his speeches in April. The so called ‘illegal’ migrant Muslims have their valid papers and even then the pogroms were carried out. The NDFB militants slaughtered Muslims for supporting a non Bodo candidate in Lok Sabha election. In Kokrajhar, Chirag, Baksa and Udalguri. The other districts of Assam have also been witness to killing of Muslims: Dhubri, Barpeta, Bongaigaon 698 rioting in 2013 in Dhubri, 236 cases of rioting in Barpeta in February and August 2013, in Cachar 226, etc. In the May 2014 election according to Bhavdev Goswai had remarked that the NDFB rebels had supported BJP. The Congress leader Piush Hazarika had said that BJP “ will now use other terror outfits to execute its communal agenda in the state.”[6] In India the distinction between riots and genocide and terrorist attack is slurred for those involved in genocide are also terrorists known for their role and have been also involved in riots. For those involved in terrorist attacks on Ajmer shrine were also behind the attack on the Best Bakery in Baroda in 2002. It is due to the hate ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which is committed to terminate all the Muslims unless they accept Hindu religion. During the genocide Modi had visited Naroda Patia and exhorted the Charra community that they should continue their extermination juggernaut the next day and the day after that. His lieutenants like Bajrangi and others averred that they ceased their work of mass massacre on the stipulated third day. [7]Naroda Patia too had its hermetically sealed gas chamber. The killers had busy action at the dry well and around. In the evening they returned to their areas where they discovered that some Muslims had hidden in the sewer. They rolled heavy boulders on the gutter and sealed it so that they would be suffocated by the poisonous gases. Next day their corpses were recovered. Samantha Power was very active in the first election campaign of President Barak Obama. She had seriously criticized America for supporting those regimes that were tainted with crimes against humanity and genocide. Power was slated to take a very important portfolio after election but she stood by her belief and left the campaign. Her grouse was that the US policy was for safeguarding the right to life and other human rights across the world and yet next day the US representative would vote for the countries and their rulers who were involved in genocide. India was against the genocide of the refugee camps of Palestinians in Sabra and Chatilla in Lebanon where defense minister Ariel Sharon had allowed the Israeli army to encircle the camps and slaughter the Palestinians. But after LK Advani let Moshe Dayan visit India and open its embassy things took a dramatic turn. In the aftermath of 9/11 the US made no efforts to criticize the genocide in Gujarat. During Modi’s three day visit President Barak Obama met him three times and even issued a joint editorial of Washington Post which reads: "The true potential of our relationship has yet to be fully realized. The advent of a new government in India is a natural opportunity to broaden and deepen our relationship. With a reinvigorated level of ambition and greater confidence, we can go beyond modest and conventional goals. It is time to set a new agenda, one that realizes concrete benefits for our citizens." “While our shared efforts will benefit our own people, our partnership aspires to be larger than merely the sum of its parts. As nations, as people, we aspire to a better future for all; one in which our strategic partnership also produces benefits for the world at large.” The new catch phrase: “Chalein Saath Saath” enshrined in the vision statement has become a repeated election slogan all over India with the addition of Modi’s name: Chalo chalein Moid key saath.” Such bonding of the two administrations is a slap in the face of Samantha Power. Ayn Rand and Leonard Peikoff were alarmed by the neo Nazism. It would be rather incorrect to say that Americans are not. Their refusal to visa to Modi was in right direction but there are other trends. One is that the US is a close ally of Israel and the Jewry in America has enormous control of the government. Furthermore the events of West Asia have repercussion on India. The concern for the Islamic States of Iraq and Syria is current theatre of war. Modi and his national security advisor Ajit Doval do not want the Americans to leave Afghanistan for the obvious reason that it would fall into the hands of the Talibans. So the Jewish lobby and the financial clout of the Gujarati diaspora have much in common to gain. Sonal Shah was also closely associated with the incoming administration of Obama in the first election campaign. She was dropped from an important post because of the huge amount of cash sent to India in 2002which had financed the genocide through VHP. The growing collaboration between Modi and Obama administration is ominous because they may produce weapons, export missile technology and other such joint ventures including sharing of nuclear technology which would make existing conflicts sustained for profit motive. Muslim countries do not figure in this let alone the Indian Muslims. However Modi is attempting too much. In the midst of this the refrain of protest in America cannot let the ghost of Modi rest: "Modi, Modi, you can't hide, you committed genocide!"[8] As India has chosen to align with the US it will now have the acquired syndrome of interpreting its own acts as has the US and other rich countries been doing. Noarm Chomsky in the 2002 Introduction of his book Pirates and Emperors, International Terrorism in the World remarks that the interpretation of 9/11 will “depend substantially on how the rich and powerful interpret this dramatic demonstration that they are no longer immune from atrocities of the kind they routinely inflict on others, and how they choose to react.” India was already doing it in 2002. It refused to consider 2002 genocide either as act of terrorism or genocide or holocaust. Till today it does not consider 1984 to be either just that. Modi is anyway fond of the crown of an emperor and always holding swords in his hands. A man is known by not only the company he keeps but the things he surrounds himself with. The failure of Muslims is that they could not gather enough support within or outside the country to have the UNO of International Criminal Court take cognizance of that. Two US citizens of Muslim origin in America lost their mother and grandmother in the genocide in Gujarat 2002. They have filed a case against Modi in the US courts. There is no sign that they would have the clouts to get the case heard at international fora. On the other hand VHP (America) has had enough to fund genocide and also resources to defend it and whitewash the pogroms.(9) Chilean President Augusto Pinochet and Slobodan Milosevic belong to other spheres of influence. Ambiguous Prime Minister and “exported terrorism”

The basic premise of investigation in bomb blasts within the mainland India is to blame it on foreign involvement and it is of course Pakistan. Within this broad frame comes the local involvement and that is Indian Mujahideen. The calculated effect is that Indian Muslims bear the brunt of the accusation and serious consequences. Innocent members of the community are arrested including women and children. Having stigmatized the whole community is forced to wear the cross of ignominy and suffer untold misery and insult and violence. In most if not all cases the truth comes out much later that Muslims were not involved or the blast was not executed by them or it was some kind of accident which was made out to be a terrorist attack. In Brundwan, West Bengal, the crude explosive device that went off was made out to be a bomb blast in which the deadly RDX was used. Reacting to the attempt to turn it a big event and hunt and hound Muslim the Government Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee made it clear: “We recovered a large amount of chemicals used in bomb making and crude bombs along with some SIM cards and phones. No IED or RDX was recovered.” [1] There is a premeditated attempt to turn it against the Muslims and BJP goes for it in full swing. This queers the pitch for the Muslims who may ultimately come out as innocent. So right at the beginning the Home Secretary squashed the sinister design when he said further: “The standard rule is to defuse bombs if they are recovered. The bombs were defused by the bomb disposal squad of CID following all the rules. An assistant director of the Central Forensic Laboratory was present and his team had already visited the spot. Moreover, senior officers of central agencies are in touch,” Therefore, this incident does not fit in the description of the event being exported from or imported in from across the borders. So in nutshell there are attempts to manufacture false accusation to pillory the minority community. It is as indigenous as the wherewithal that went in causing/producing explosion. In short stories or novelettes famed Urdu writer Sadat Hasan Mantoo often showed the absurdity of violence and terrorism of a bygone era, partition. Though, it was not a fashion to talk terrorism then even when terrorism was in full swing. After knifing to death the crowd in Mumbai and elsewhere discovered the victims to be of their same faith! How terrifying it was for determining the faith by unzipping the pants and often even not bothering that! That were hardly few days of new nations of Pakistan and India when the people were discovering and trying their new identity and the pen drawn line dividing what was one unified nationality. Toba Tek Singh of Mantoo had it right, a mad man in jail indecisive of which country to shift. If terrorism was ubiquitous then how have the borders changed our perception of it? It has suddenly become exported! With a new PM in office India is again switched back to the hazy partition. There have been many people including media persons who have questioned PM Narendra Modi’s grasp on facts of history. Still there are others who questioned him on recent history and contemporary events. When he addressed the Council for Foreign Relations in US he said that all terrorism in India is exported. There is no home grown terrorism. It was in the context of Al Qaida chief Ayman Alzawahiri’s video released early in September 2014. Modi’s observation does not square with the facts on ground for there is no Al Qaid branch in India. However, India has always blamed Pakistan for all acts of terrorism within the country! The only one Pakistani caught and hanged so far was Ajmal Kasab. How could it be exported then? Another context of his remark is Taliban in Pakistan-Afghanistan regions. That can pose problem Talibans have not crossed into India so far, may be because they are too much enmeshed in the two neighbouring countries. When there was an attack on Indian embassy in Kabul our national security advisor MK Narayanan had remarked that India would pay back in the same coin meaning thereby India also would retaliate. That India was involved in Waziristan, Pakistan, was acknowledged by PM Dr Manmohan Singh in a meeting at Sharm al Sheikh, Egypt. While still in the US Modi tweeted: ✔ @PMOIndia Follow We need to take the issue of terrorism very seriously. Sadly several nations never understood the real menace of terrorism: PM @narendramodi 11:22 PM - 29 Sep 2014 [2] Does Modi still really understand terrorism? He had held out threat to journalists who wanted to cover Gujarat genocide by saying that they would meet the fate of Daniel Pearl! Why did he have it witness in the US tour, it was very much there when he had not left for the US tour. Or did he not realize that Ahsan Jarfi had spoken to him to save the life of the people who had sought refuge there from the marauding extremist Hindus? They had encircled the housing society since nine in the morning of February 28, 2002. There was a striking police force at hand and yet it was shifted to another place. That the besieged Muslims were under imminent threat to their existence was clear as they were continuously firebombed, water supply was cut off, etc. This was terrorism. It was indigenized terrorism. Even the guns and rockets used there were manufactured in Gujarat and some by BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal and RSS leaders cum business men. Tehelka of November 3, 2007 is full of the details. This is what Jaffrette Christoff means when he calls it emulating and stigmatizing. Emulating whom? (But) Stigmatizing whom? In our zeal to see the export of terrorism from across the border we never bothered why MK Narayanan was instrumental in preventing investigation in Samjhauta Express train attack on February 18, 2007. The Haryana police were on the right track. He said it would earn bad name for India and so he stopped the investigation. Why did the Punjab High Court grant Swami Asimanand bail in the Samjhauta Express when he had confessed that he was involved in it? And that this bail order was passed in September after Modi had already become the PM! Those who have proven record of terror are given bail whereas the overwhelming numbers of Muslims have no time from their daily life to plan and execute any blast and yet they are stigmatized. This is borne out by the record that no Muslim from India had taken part in 9/11 nor in any Al Qaeda attack anywhere else in India or overseas. So Modi’s expectation "Muslims of India will fail al-Qaeda" is hollow. The prime minister is like many from his state who are solely engaged in business and trade and hence his use of exporting terror is as if it was like cotton that Gujarat produced and exported to other countries over the centuries. Delhi has acquired sort of notoriety over killing innocent North Eastern Indians like the Nagas, Manipuris, etc. The incidents of terrorism here are not exported from any negihbouring country, Bangladesh or Pakistan. However, there is a proviso that terror events in Nigeria may have been partly the cause of the attack on three ‘Nigerians’ on September 28, 2014 in New Delhi. Mapaga (22) and Yohan (22) from Gabon and Guira (20) from Burkina Faso were brutally attacked by the mob of Hindus and almost lynched at Rajiv chowk metro station. Towards the end of the attack the three survivors took refuge in religion and shouted Nare takbeer, Allah-ho-Akbar and were countered by a splutter of Bharat Mata ki jai and a lone cry of Vande Matrum. The attackers beat them in groups and then took turn one by one as the beleaguered foreign nationals tried to climb the enclosure of the police station. One police man was there who initially tried to intervene and there were others who stood cheek by jowl from the police post as silent spectators. [3] This too was act of terrorism. The cause of the terror attack was imported from Nigeria. This sheer inhumanity belies the traditional belief that we Indians are traditionally hospitable to strangers and foreigners. Even so the victims were not from Nigeria but from Gabon and Burkina Faso. This is a travesty of terrorism that in the aftermath of 9/11 Sikhs were attacked and killed and now the mistaken identity played havoc in our own land. But because they were Muslims is what clinched the issue. Terrorism is neither good nor bad in kind says the PM but why some even in mistaken identity are not allowed to prove their innocence? The global dimension of terrorism is very much there but India has exclusively blamed terrorism from across the border, Pakistan. So why this Nigerian extension? Despite our protestation that we are a peace loving country and alien to terrorism we cannot pretend to be ignorant of the fact that the West has categorized Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as a terrorist organization. We can hardly ignore it as no other than the Terrorism Research Centre based in East Virginia, US, has taken it on its record. It is a research centre and a think tank. Dr Subramniyam Swami has often cited the centre selectively to show how India has been subjected to terrorism as no other country only to hide the other side that we too have terrorist organizations of our own, RSS, ULFA, etc. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat saying on Doordarshan on October 3, 2014 Dussera day that it is the West behind terrorism is complements Modi. However, Bhagwat like Modi is deeply ambiguous because he speaks of new incarnation of terrorism which is the product of the selfish interest of the West. Modi speaking from the US and Bhagwat speaking from Nagpur, India, have deliberately obfuscated the reference or geography of west. Do they have in mind West Asia in mind which includes the IS or Islamic States of Iraq and Syria or the West in the sense of what Samuel Huntington means when he refers to Islam and the West? Which is the west then? Has the West exported terrorism to the West Asia as a geopolitical strategy and is Al Qaida’s desire to open a branch in India to deal with Kashmir, Gujarat and Assam as an extension of it? And what is more ominous does Modi want to join arms production with the US to claim for its share in the profit in arms sale? Does Modi’s India want to emulate Israel and be in East but be like the West? Self interest is motivating factor for exporting terrorism and Bahgwat hints at it when he speaks of globalization and if any Indian leader who is more for globalization, it is a Gujarat born one for he knows how to power development. The Americans are obliged in the case of Israel and won’t mind to repeat it for India for Yankee profiteering knows no limit, moral or geographical. Lesson to learn: In terrorism call a spade a spade. If beheading by IS or Taliban is terrorism so is the beheading in the US Moore Farm where a cashiered employee tried to force a fellow worker to convert to Islam. When the victim resisted he beheaded him. This could not be jihad. This is indigenous and not exported. Terrorism is hatred for the other The Rajive chowk metro station terrorists hated Muslims, be they black or Asian. [5] Blaming others but never inspecting leads to blind alley. BJP has not learnt it and signs are it would never and hence preventive measure to ban terrorists who are terrorists and not patriots. Police failing to take action against are complicit in terrorism and hence need to be defined as terrorists. DG Vanzara had arrested the extremists who killed hundereds at Naroda Patia. He let them off without registering crime. Maya Kodnani and Vanzara need to be defined as terrorists. At Yakutpura in Vadodra the police assaulted women and children and burnt cars on during the last four days of September 2014.[6] The city has had many such incidents of arms planted by Vanzara to cause riot in favour of Modi and BJP around election. Modi as CM refused to learn can he refuse it now that he is PM? The violence and terror in 2002 and 2014 was home product and not imported from Pak. Or exported from their either. The four days were no love jihad period although it was Navratri.
