Writing my earlier book Decade of the Demagogue and his
Demagoguery I said that if Modi had had a wife and a daughter the 2002
genocide would not have happened. I felt that it was necessary for a man
to have a daughter and save money for a whole life to marry her off. If
a pogrom burns down the house along with the life saving what would be
the feeling of loss? Modi cannot guess it. Since then the report that
his wife Jasodhaben spent whole life teaching Muslims in a village made
the suffering of the wife quite moving. Even so there remains the fixity
of the diabolic pursuit of the Hindutva hate ideology even in her case.
