If the youth remain untouched by the dispute and the litigation over the Ayodhya mosque there is hardly any reason why the dying generation of the oldies should carry so much hangover about the Babri demolition. The learned judges have further fossilized the issue if not the intellect(?) by referring the deity as spiritual and capable of manifesting anywhere including a whole town! Have they the right to speak on spiritual essence materializing as physical entities in the form of deities? Their minds are still captive to the sensational serial Ramayana (circa 1987).
However, the most pertinent part of the Allahabad court judgment is that the three learned judges acknowledge that the statue of Ram was put under the central dome past midnight of December 22, 1949. Only few hours before that the imam of the mosque had performed the Isha or late night prayer or namaz there! This cannot be dismissed as peripheral to the title suit. It is most central to it.
The judgment is no doubt conciliatory but surreptitiously it is also exculpatory. What the organized conspiratorial juggernaut of the 1990 did is given a respectability and official recognition. The real losers are logic and rationality.
