The dropping of Maharashtra Control of Organized Crimes act against Sadhvi Pragyasing Thakur and others is based on incidence rather than the real nature of the crimes. The case is still through the judicial process. However, indications and implications engage the mind because of the nature of the crimes. One is: the involvement of Rakesh Dhawde in several incidents of bomb blasts in a number of mosques over a period of several years. The courts have not found this serious. At the same time the confession under third degree torture of the Muslims accused in July 2008 Ahmdabad blasts and Malegaon blasts 2006 is proof of terrorism. Parallel to this is organized attempt to make the sadhvi beyond reproach and a cult figure of great significance.
There is clear connection among the Sanatan Sansthan, Hindu Jagran Samiti and Abhnav Bharat and several others. In a phone conversation of October 23 2008 Ll Col Shrikant Purohit tells Major Ramesh Upadhya that the Rashtrawadi Congress(NCP) was behind the probe into Malegaon 2008 blast to divert attention from Raj Thackeray’s movement against the North Indians which had drawn so much flak against the home ministry in Mahrashtra then in the hands of NCP. He also said that Hindu Jagran Samiti was the Maharashtrian face of Sanatan Sansthan. These and other allied organizations like Bajrang Dal and VHP have avowed to use violence against the Muslims and other minorities. What is more they have left track record that they have often resorted to violence including terror tactics to achieve their aims and would do the same in future. In the case of Abhinav Bharat the aim is subversion of the constitution of the country and secession.
The larger framework of the case goes beyond terrorism. Lieutenant colonel Purohit and Shankaracharya Dyanand Pandey wanted to establish a Hindu Rashtra for which the military officer in service wanted to seek the help of the Israeli government or the Mossad and they had for all intents and purposes secured it. They had to give some results and the two results which Purohit has mentioned in his confession are most likely the two serial bomb blasts at Malegaon. But he was also involved in the group Abhinav Bharat or other such which caused bomb explosions at Nanded, Purna, Jalna and Parbhani. There is a new dimension that the 60 kg RDX which Purohit had procured from the army was used in the Samjhauta express incident of February 2007.
This should make every true national minded person sit up and take cognizance of the serious nature of the crime.
The sadhvi and the serving Lt Col were part of an organized group who had held meetings at various places and had even used Bhonsla military schools at Nashik and Nagpur for criminal acts of high treason and terrorist violence to sow hatred among people. In this they used serving as well as retired personnel of the Indian army regularly like Purohit and navy officer Sanatkumar Bhate.
Plethora of proof is now available for the discerning, if not for the intelligence and security agencies. There is the strange case of Abrar Ahmed. This is simply mindboggling. He was kept in a secret place by the police and forced to accept the role of becoming an approver. Through the despicable process of double crossing the police extracted false statements of incriminating people who had nothing to do with the 2006 blasts in Malegaon. Moreover the fear of the consequences of the Samjhauta express attack of February 2007 having some connection with the army made the national security agency as well as foreign ministry warn the central government of the implications of the disclosures regarding Ll Col Purohit for the bilateral relationship in the subcontinent as well as India’s standing in the world. Pakistan nevertheless used this as a stick to beat India on the issue of terrorism and the US took note of this startling disclosure. Such a heinous crime involving the serving lieutenant of the army was a great embarrassment to all right thinking people.
There are very serious implications of the affidavit that the induced witness Abrar Ahmed has given from jail through his lawyer brother Jalil Ahmed. Of course our courts are competent to deal with such matters but it is first of its kind and hence it needs notice of the public at large. For example, the superintendent of police in Malegaon, Rajwardhan it was who arranged Abrar to live in a house in Deolali army camp with Purohit around October 25 2006. Abrar accuses ATS of housing him in hotel Pritam of Dadar in Mumbai and treating him to a pleasure trip to the Gateway of India, etc at their expense. Rajwardhan it was who had sent him to Ujjain where he was introduced to Pragyasingh Thakur in October 2006. Rajwardhan it was at whose instance he not only had an audience with Shankaracharya Dyanand Pandey but had video film made of the visit. But then these are matters of the affidavit that Abrar has submitted to Judge Shinde from his cell in Bycullah jail. Interestingly it was here that he saw the sadhvi and the military officer and recognized them easily as they were entered there after their arrest in 2008 blast.
Abrar’s basic contention is that he was induced by senior most police officer of Malegaon Rajwardhan to commit perjury that the accused of the bomb blasts of September 8, 2006 viz., Noorulhoda and others had planted the bombs. Numerous acts show how the police officer used carrot and stick method of double crossing Abrar. On October 23 2006 Abrar and his wife were taken out for festive shopping when he contacted his brother Farid Ahmed from a PCO. Farid responded to his call on his mobile 9372710109. Abrar says he and his wife were given separate mobile phones (9823436809,9825826597) by Rajwardhan and that he was made to say incriminating sentences which were recorded on the phones and played to him to hear in the room adjoining that of Purohit.
The confessions of Purohit and Dyanand Pandey and their recording on their laptops will make any judge take serious note of what was going on in the murky world of these individuals who have enormous clout and wide range of contacts throughout the length and breadth of the country. For example, Purohit along with Sanatkumar Bhate and the mysterious “Mithun Chakarborty,” among others, is involved in not just supplying RDX but also giving training to more than 500 youths in carrying out terrorist attacks. Are some of the “outsiders” which Tehelka stumbled upon in its continued crusade of exposing and fighting terrorists, the Malegaon bombers, eleven behind bars and three at large, from the 2008 and almost all still absconding from the 2006? The Samjhauta imbroglio is still stymied and hence a nagging mystery.
Similarly the confession of another accused in the Godhra case calls our attention. It provides an inkling into how there is a sinister design in trapping the innocents to accept police version. This would prove one point that there was a super ordinate agency, either intelligence or a group or a mixture of both which wanted bomb blasts to take place but blame to go to SIMI or its new avatar IM.
The confession of the star witness of Gujarat police has similar pattern. He is called Witness by Tehelka reporter to hide his identity and save him further trouble. He was a resident of Juhapura and had seen murder and mayhem and wanted revenge but he and his associates were superseded by another group. At first he and his early contacts wanted to plant bombs at places mostly visited by Hindus to avenge the murder and arson that VHP and Bajrang dal activists had perpetrated in 2002. However, the group that superimposed itself upon them changed the targets, choosing now areas where Muslims will also be killed. At the last moment he did not plant the bombs because of change in the perception of the new comers. His involvement went to the extent of buying cycles.
“I met Alamzeb five days after the blasts and asked him about the boys from outside. Were they like us – kurta-pyjama clad and bearded? Alamzeb replied that on the contrary, they didn’t look like us. They were welleducated, wore jeans and T-shirts and smoked a lot.
Did you know their identity?
No ma’am. They never divulged these things. Alamzeb only told me that they had rented a room and that they were extremely well-trained in making bombs. They were not like one of us. There was another person who kept the bombs. There is a stark difference between us and those people. They were like none of our group or any SIMI members we had seen.”
The police told Witness that Yunus Mansuri had named him as one of those who had planted the bombs. Witness told them to produce Yunus before him so that truth could be known. Two days later Yunus was arrested because Witness was forced to name him as one of the conspirators.
Subhan Qureishi, Alamzeb and Qayamuddin are the real conspirators of July 2008 Ahemdabad blasts. They are at large. The innocents who are in jail include Mufti Bashar whom the police touted as the mastermind. The same is true of the Malegaon blasts of September 2006. The real culprits are still not found; two sketches issued by the police do not bear any resemblance to Abrar, Nurulhoda, Shabbir batterywallah, etc. In fact the batterywallah was already in police custody the day the bombs went off. These innocents are perishing in prison. The police according to Abrar used him as a double cross, they got him accuse the others and then accused him of the conspiracy and planting of the bomb. All these are matters of confession and torture. Abrar has also mentioned Dr Rajinder Amin, Dr Bipin Parekh, Someshwar Shankar and others but the police have not bothered about it. On the other hand one of the accused in September 2008 had rung Dr Parekh whose phone number was in the mobile phone of the pederast but the police casually dismissed the involvement. He lives and practices within easy access of the Bhiku chowk, the site of the 2008 blast.
Why do the right wing parties like BJP and Shiv Sena feel so much agitated over the arrest of the eleven? It is their shared vision of the Hindu Rashtra without which they feel like fish without water. Abhinav Bharat wants Bhartiya culture and nationalism derived from vedic thoughts. What the thirteen accused did through their conspiracy naturally invited MCOCA, UAPA, Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Explosives Act. The excerpt of the constitution that Purohit read out at a meeting in Delhi attended among others Dr RP Singh bears it out and calls for even harsher laws:
“Defence: Purohit suggested that the strength of the army be increased from 14 lakh to 1 crore men. The defence minister should be called as war minister. Pandey suggested that Pakistan should not be mentioned in their plan since they consider it a part of Akhand Bharat.
Economy: Agriculture must be controlled and planned by a qualified body of advisers. Group farming must be encouraged to curtail losses. Emphasis should be on agricultural self-reliance-the backbone of the Bharatiya economy. SEZs should only be built on barren land, and acquisition of agricultural land should be prohibited. Development of infrastructure should be common and equal. The constitution also talks of uninterrupted supply of power, irrigation network, fresh land reforms, controlled and compulsive farming, and education facilities at every village.
Foreign policy: Purohit suggested declaring the country at war till its lost territory was regained or the Line of Control was accepted as international border. It also talks of forming Buddhist and Hindu nations' union to fight Islamic and Christian invasions.
Crime: The constitution recommends strict punishment for defaulters and officials facing corruption charges, capital punishment and field/corporal punishment in public places. It prohibits cow slaughter. The constitution talks of enforcement of civil code along with social security code, and national security policy.
Membership: People can become members by submitting a form physically or online, for a fee of Rs 30. The organisation would train members, offer yearly promotions, internal and mutual assessment and confidential reports will be followed, and provide identity cards. Unofficially, any Hindu is an honorary member of this organisation (Rashtra).
Military training: Every member will need to have the basic knowledge of the weapons.”
The vedic vision behind this is antithesis to not just democracy and republican system we have adopted but also the system viewed today according to Zeitgeist Movement in the West which can let the sustainable city or nation exist albeit there is a kind of anarchism that it surely will entail. But Purohit and the other conspirators have a badly cobbled utopia in common with Seitgeist Movement and Peter Joseph and the Venus Project.
There is a great difference between the arrests of Muslims accused in terror crimes and how the police and the media prate about it and the way the ATS and the police maintain a hush up when it comes to Hindus involved in terrorism. Surprisingly the NCP brought the matter to the fore because of the compulsion of realpolitick. Purohit and Upadhay were as politic as is Advani and the lot of Thackerays.
Upaddhyay: That means the news has been leaked before confirmation by the ATS or somebody...it's politically motivated to defuse the situation existing in Maharashtra in the wake of Raj Thackeray
Prasad: Yes, it is basically the Rashtrawadi...
Another difference between arrest and parading in media during peak hours of the arrested members of two different communities and the institutions or prayer houses they attended is evident. Nearly a year after the arrest of the sadhvi it is only now that we know greater details of the Ram temple of old Bhopal where she stayed for a night and held a meeting. The temple according to media report “flaunts” ISO 9001:2000 certificate issued by Orion Registrar, Inc, USA. There you worship Hindu gods through vedic traditions and Administration of Campus. Pragya stayed in a room specially reserved for saints and the meeting was held near the sanctum sanctorum. The arrangement was made through an office bear of Abhinav Bharat and the day was in April 2008. Satyendra Jain, the associate officer of Orion in central India, even gave discount to the temple for registration and finds nothing wrong in issuing the certificate though the conspiracy to bomb a Muslim dominated part of Malegaon hundreds of miles away was hatched there. The kind of respectability the sangh parivar has acquired overflows along with the kind of subterranean agenda against the minorities. There is no question of any misgiving. In stark contrast is the madrassa in the length and breadth of India which is brushed with the paint of ignominy and the groups of Muslims like Ahle Hadish are dubbed extremists and terrorists. In the aftermath of Malegaon blast 2006 the home minister of Maharashtra, Chaggan Bhujbal of NCP, came down heavily against the whole sect of Ahle Hadish. Why Upadhya and Purohit feel so strongly against the NCP is left for you to ponder. The fronting and centering of the temple in Bhopal according to world standard by a US organization cannot be deemed cocking a snook at the madrassas. But it is equally relevant to recall how even a place of sati like that of Rup Kanwar can arouse humongous popularity, devotion and what is more important, following. What if the Ram temple through its Administration Campus jumps at the opportunity offered now?
Pragya must have had local contact in Malegaon and must have supplied what Lt Col Shrikant Purohit could not have.
“Main kuch baat kahunga isse pehle kabhi nahi kahi gayi thi. Do operation humne kiye, successful ho gaye. Operation karne ki meri kshamta hain, swamiji. Mere paas equipment ki kami nahi hain. Main equipment paida kar sakta hoon. Equipment la sakta hoon. Agar jab thaan leta hoon. Lekin target chunna yeh mere ek ke vishay ke hisaab nahi hona chahiye.
It was she who asked Ramji Kalsangra why so few died in Bhiku chowk. Most probably she must also have visited the site in veil.
Such is the upfronting of the sadhvi that she would soon leave all other saints like Rup Kanwar far behind because of the kind of politics she and her adherents like Advanis and Thackerays represent. Bailing her out would be a matter of time and honouring her right in Bhiku chowk (now called Shaheed Hemant Karkare street) is not impossibility. Gopal Godse too was honoured not far from there on his release from jail.

Of polarization and profiling
Former president of India Abdul Kalam is the antithesis of much that goes in conventional sense of religious or racial profiling. His faith, if at all, matters minimally so far he is concerned as a public figure. Neither does his appearance. Notwithstanding this, it was he who interacted with chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi and did not even evince any attempt to inhibit any feeling when he hobnobbed with the desi Milosevic. That was when he took over his august office after the pogroms against Muslims in 2002. Kalam was also the antidote of polarization. He along with his ancestral family lived and thrived in the environs of the sanctum sanctorum of a revered Hindu temple. How come then that his background comes in the way of his being profiled as he was frisked by the American airline company!
Much like him was Ehsan Jafri who lived in a middle class enclave of Gulberg society ensconced from the humdrum life of the otherwise dingy and competing and tension ridden life of the Indian streets. Secular in outlook and gregarious in nature, he could hardly be an example of polarization. Even police commissioner PC Pande came to save him but with a caveat, only he and his family members could board the ark of survival. Since the morning of February 28, 2002 the marauding crowd had been yelling for his blood. He made nearly 200 phone calls to those who mattered to save the life of the people who had sought refuge in his house. One such call was to Sonia Gandhi and the last was to Modi. Who torpedoed that ark which Pande had offered?
How could polarization stop by the killing of the MP and scores of those including children and women who were counting their every breath as the last in the Gulberg society housing complex! What subsequently happened there laid foundation of more polarization and deeper and even unbridgeable gulf!
The notification (No. GK/8/2009/COI/102009/33/A) dated June 5, 2009 of the Gujarat government of Chief Minister Narendra Modi establishing a commission to probe communal polarization is fraught with grave dangers. Nothing has been as dangerous to the country as anything that is communal because it divides the people vertically; the division of the land is consequent to this. Instead of learning the lesson right in the beginning of independence of India and avoiding it we have not only continued with it but also developed it as a mechanism for electoral gains (election in Gujarat December 2002). There are some whose survival hinges on this.
It would be wrong to trace every evil of today to 1947. The communal tendencies and mindsets were formed by then. The eighties were the opportunistic resurgence of the same. However, the anti-cow slaughter agitation of the late sixties and the anti-reservation agitation turning anti Muslim riots in Gujarat cross fertilized the Gujarat culture. Neither common language nor the so much vaunted Gujarati entrepreneurship could withhold the onslaught of communalism particularly that of the Hindutva brand.
Polarization on communal lines was planted and nurtured during this turbulence. The experiment in the laboratory of Hindutva was not of ideology but of means of removing physical barriers which were transformed as “the other”. Narendra Modi will go down in history as the most damnable architect of this. Now it is he who is asking for inquiry into the polarization which he himself so eminently brought about. Even praying for rain was used as an occasion of polarizing the society. Once he organized a huge pooja on the Sabarmati River to thank Hindu gods for the rains. He did not stop there. He threw a gauntlet to the Muslims to call upon their almighty to produce rain as the Hindus had done! He pooh-poohed them.
Why this fuss over polarization, then? It is not that he is perturbed by the pathological disturbance of his society there, but it is rather to play another Machiavellian role. For, the sangh parivar knows well that it gives rich dividends.
The dual aspects of the proposed inquiry which are highly charged in meaning are: “polarization of population on the basis of religion taking place in the State of Gujarat” and “the migration of the people following different religions taking place every 10 years after 15th August 1947”. As far as polarization is concerned the government is not disturbed by polarization that really exists because it has done nothing but to maintain that for its own hold on power. Ostracisation and boycott of Muslims is still enforced. What positive step let alone any “affirmative action” has Modi taken to remove it?
The basic premise of communalism in India has been a recourse to past which is quite too hazy at times to prove conclusively any issue that is occasionally raked up. Public memory is short and the communal leaders take this for granted and take the government and their opponents for a ride. This happened as recently as July 9, 2009 when LK Advani dug out a letter of the mayor of the French city of Marseilles written eleven years ago to Swatantra Veer savarkar seva Mandal of Vile Parle. The mayor wanted to know if the government would associate itself with the project. PM Vajpayee did not even bother to reply. However his deputy PM now wants to know if the government has any objection. The right wing deputy and his party are schizophrenic in this regard much like Amitav Ghosh’s vakil babu in the Shadow Lines.
The Gujarat government notification also speaks of allegations made against it that it is responsible for the current division “such allegations and unscientific conclusions create heart burning and distance among the citizens”.
Heartburning is envious discontented feelings usually caused by disappointment. Going by this definition of the word, is the Gujarat government capable and fit morally to ascertain whose discontented feeling or disappointment it is and what has caused it for which he has migrated to that state and, more pertinently, what role his faith has played in this?
There is much deeper polarization of which Modi is most directly responsible. He is as the accounts in the news go subverted the administration of justice. His most notorious speech of how the relief camps of Muslims were baby producing factories was widely reported verbatim and yet his police failed to supply the cassette when the courts and the election commission demanded it. Many were arrested or outright killed in fake encounters by his encounter specialists like DG Vanzara and Narendra Amin. It is now open secret that the pogroms of 2002 against Muslims were state sponsored. Quintessentially he is largely to blame for polarization of the administration. He has not learnt any lessons from history of even recent past that the Great Divide of India was precipitated by the polarization of the administration. It was not for nothing that south Indian police were deployed in the north and west during the partition period.
If the 9/11 supplied the pretext to wreak havoc on Muslims so did the ignominious extraordinary renditions or outsourcing torture. People far from Gujarat were arrested and taken to Ahmedabad and tortured. Among them were the innocents of Hyderabad and Delhi. On July 24, 2009 a judge acquitted Shahid Ahmad Bakshi from Juhapura in Ahemdabad, Farhan Ahmed Shaikh and Hafix Mohammad Tahir from Moradabad, UP whom DIG DG Vanzara had framed for plotting to kill Modi. Don’t forget that he even killed many on the same pretext. The “kidnapping” of and rape and torture and murder of Kauser bibi wife Sohrabbudin is nothing less than the extraordinary rendition. Both were incarcerated in private farm houses before being brutally killed.
There were bomb blasts in Malegaon of Maharashtra and Modasa of Gujart at the same time on September 29, 2008 on the eve of Id. People were killed and injured but the kind of professional and dedicated investigation that Hemant Karkare made was not matched by KK Mysorewalla. This notorious police officer of Gujarat has earned the distinction of having his sentence denying help to hapless Muslim women victims at Naroda Patia making the headlines of Human Rights reports. He is still there, and so is Babu Bajrangi, thanks to Modi. If this is not polarization what is it then?
The cure to this malaise of polarization is to ensure that justice prevails and is also not delayed. The former cannot be assured by the kind of bills that Gujarat government passes cocking a snook at the central government or in defiance of civilized norms. The latter is impossible unless we wash our Augean stables. The kind of public prosecutors that Modi appointed and the judges that he changed frequently to get Bajrangi out of jail and the police officers to turn blind eye to his evil deeds are playing havoc with the unity and integrity of the country. For the larger good of the country what we need is to refurbish “the idea of justice”: “justice has much to do with everyone being treated fairly.” (Amartya Sen) Paying victims of pogroms half of what you pay for others because they are Muslims is not justice. Justice also has “to pay attention to the kind of lives people are actually able to lead.” What kind of lives people in refugee camps were leading in 2002 that made the prime minister of India feel shame and Modi feel no shame?
The great grandson of Babur was the last Mughal Bahadurshah Zafar. He pined for two feet wide land for his grave in the homeland which he and his ancestors adopted. That wish of Zafar the British did not allow to take shape as they executed him in Rangoon. The fate of Wali Gujrati was worse. The hordes of Hindutva under Modi dispensation dug out his mortal remains and paved the shrine with hot mixture in minutes and left no trace that such a poet ever lived there! Which land in square meters will Judge BJ Sethna of the proposed commission measure to find out the polarization?

The Lock Step Conformity of America
It is pitiful to note that the United States mocks its own Yankee pragmatism when it comes to the Palestinians and women. This is even more pronounced in the days of the administration of President Barack Obama.
From the day his aides removed Muslim women in hijab from a photo session to his highly exceptionable silence over the detention of former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire and others by Israel he smacks of a Democratic pretender. The boat the Spirit of Humanity was seized on June 30 and 21 people abducted and kept in prison and released on July 5. The Americans who spent their July 4th Independence Day in Israeli jail were Cynthia, Adam Shapiro, a film maker, and Kathy Sheetz, a nurse and film maker. The UN rapporteur Richard Falk called the seizure unlawful and the Israeli blockade of Gaza a continuing crime against humanity.
During his election campaign he facilely accepted the resignation of Samantha Power. She was ‘forced’ to leave the campaign not because she had said that America opposes genocide one day and yet it defends it the very next day in the UN but for calling Hillary Clinton a bitch in an informal situation. The former is very often repeated when it comes to the genocidal policies and practices of Israel. Such is the lock step conformity of all the US administrations vis-à-vis Israel that one wonders whether it is Israel which is running America. This is true despite the fact that Obama rules the United States of America and not the United States of Israel.
The Democratic party is known for its concern for the minorities and intellectuals. It is also true that the Americans are still not ripe enough to have a woman president. Why had the hijab of a couple of women in a crowd posed any danger that the head scarf-ed women were removed from the scene, and they his admirers! In this the Americans are not what in another context Martin Kingsley calls fully evolved society.
Many events that have taken place over the years poignantly bear this out. An American white Christian woman protesting Israeli demolition of Palestinian houses was crushed to death by a bulldozer. It did not cause any ripple in the water of frigidity of the American conscience. The then president of the US did not bother to make any statement. On the other hand when Somali pirates kidnapped a private US citizen Obama sent American bombers to rescue him.
More appalling than anything is the most savage system of imprisonment in Israel. How failed is Israel as a state is exemplified by the awful prison of Ramle, one of the gulags of our time. There are people there who have not committed any crimes and do not know whether they would be ever released. Many of them are from Arab countries and have no legal help and embassy contact as they are denied both. Their being “trapped in despair” is the reason why they so raptly hear the lectures of Captain Denis Healey who tried to take humanitarian aid to Gaza in his ship, DIGNITY. They also want to learn navigation and sail on the blue waters of the deep seas around the world rather than waste their life in the Israeli prison. Will their dream ever come true! There are the proud Ethiopians who ended up there in their search for a better life!
One can only hope against hope that things would turn for the good of all. The imprisonment of Cynthia McKinney and Mairead Maguire shows that the silence of Obama and his administration is an eloquent confession of how the closest and most reliable ally, Israel, practices the grossest violation of human rights and dignity. The US record was tarnished by its invasion of Iraq and the notorious Abu Gharib prison and the Guantanamo detention centre and the ill famed extraordinary rendition. Further, its record is made murkier by its close association with Israel and its complicity in what Israel is doing. Or else why are Obama and the mainstream media silent over the Cynthia McKinney affair.
She along with 21 others had taken token humanitarian help to Gaza which included food, medicine, crayon and cement, etc. Speaking symbolically and connotatively she remarked: “The Israelis high-jacked and arrested us because we wanted to give crayons to the children in Gaza.” “Zionism has surely run out of its last legitimacy if this is what it does to people who believe so deeply in human rights for all that they put their own lives on the line for someone else's children. Israel is the fullest expression of Zionism, but if Israel fears for its security because Gaza's children have crayons then not only has Israel lost its last shred of legitimacy, but Israel must be declared a failed state.”
Let alone debating and contesting the import of such soul searing indictment, the government of America and the media have maintained deliberate studied indifference to the whole affair. They are so much under the thralldom of the Jewish lobby! However the moment they hear the Zionist twitter on ‘holocaust’ and ‘never again’, they begin to chirp and look over their shoulders to see that others have noted their chirp.
The Israelis had looted all of the belongings of those who sailed in the boat along with the humanitarian aid. The hijacked were forced to borrow an old phone from somewhere in the prison from another prisoner to send their message. Cynthia’s Independence Day message makes the celebration ceremony a parody of the truth.
The enforced silence on certain matters is so jealously maintained that there is a total black out on them. Only now has the US army accepted that Israel has nuclear weapons though it was known to almost every country in the Middle East as well as the world thanks to Mordechai Vanunu. Behind the towering walls in occupied land Israel is drilling for oil. This is a plausible truth of our time. Will the world also wait for half a dozen decades for the US government to officially find it out and acknowledge it as true?

Obama and BJP: Political expectations and expediency
There is always an appreciable gap between expectations and expediency in the world of politics. The Obama speech to Islamic world and the Indian election results are two manifestations of the same truth. L.K.Advani and others who endorsed the candidacy of Varun Gandhi expected correctly that it would give rich dividends to him. Of course it did as he won the election. The Presidential address made some people euphoric as they were taken in by the spur of the moment and thought that it made a watershed in the troubled history of how the Americans had been dealing with the Muslims for more than a century before 9/11.
When excitement of the moment gives way to cool reasoning things appear different from what they purportedly say. Many who heard President Abraham Lincoln at the Gettysburg could not understand him because before the hubbub of the audience subsided he had ended his speech and his voice was quite low. It was only when the speech appeared in printed form the next day they discovered how some of the golden virtues of democracy were enshrined through the power of speech. That single speech did not eradicate slavery lock, stock and barrel. But it was an important decorative gem in the rich mosaic of truthful words matched by strong action and tenacity to remain firm in one’s views and dealings. President Barack Obama on the other hand made instantaneous impression but the true import began to register in the minds of the audience slowly. Neither his most questionable silence over the way the Israelis used his induction as the president to punish the Gazans at will and time of their choosing nor his refusal to even rap their knuckles anytime subsequently (including the Israeli piracy of the ship carrying humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza sent by six time member of the US Congress Cynthia McKinney and Nobel Laureate Mairead Maguire and others) fit in any rich mosaic of wise words accompanied by firm actions.
It was good to hear him accosting the audience in their familiar putative greetings, emphasis on his middle name Hussein, his being brought up in Indonesia rather than Saudi Arabia. Many were soon aghast at the too much circumspect references to the Palestinians which ended with a clear concern for the security of Israel rather than the opposition to the Israeli aggression repeated ad absurdum.
As Obama cannot pull himself out of the orbit of the political set up in his country, in India both the major parties have their own rotation and revolution again determined by the political set up here. Why did Advani and his party support Varun Gandhi? They knew quite well that what he had uttered was the unequivocal truth of their personal and collective conviction of their reason of existence as a political force in this country. That is their oxygen. Labeling soft or hard tags will not make any change anyway. It is this that has powered them to let anyone questioning their commitment to Hindutva know that he is free to leave the party rather than cast aspersion on their conviction. That is not negotiable and explains why on reaching the Goa conclave in the aftermath of the Gujarat carnage of 2002 Prime Minister Vajpayee not only chose to back Modi but find fault with the Muslims who ala Huntington do not cohabit the planet well with their neighbours.
That is also the reason why Congress and BJP choose to look the other way when it comes to this essentialism. BJP MLA Fatesinh Chauhan of Rajgarh was named an accused in the loot and arson of property of and attacks on Muslims in Devgarh Bharia in 2002. He got elected in the notorious election of that year and ‘absconded’ as he was declared a ‘wanted’ in the post Godhra carnage as Babu Bajrangi has been doing the same, off and on. Chauhan had called Sonia Gandhi a ‘kutri’(a bitch) and a ‘vandri’ (a she monkey) during electioneering in November. This time the Congress leaders opted to act not out of their any concern for the plight of the Muslims as victims of the pogroms but to show how seriously they took the slur to their leader. Their expectation would bring rich rewards to them and the expediency of the election officer JR Nanavati in lodging complaint would fructify.
There are people in India who flaunt their being politically incorrect as a badge of honour (Obama needs some more lessons in Islam. Tavleen Singh. Indian Express. June 7, 2009). One such has called the American president to be wary of wahabism. She expects that he take lessons in dealing with Islam from Indians! Her feeling is that we Indians lived in “our happy heathen atmosphere” “till Saudi money started to fund Wahabi Islam.” Such a naiveté in expectation is like carrying coal to New Castle as the United States has been governed and shaped by the puritan founders of the colonies; they condemned revelry as the work of the devil. In one single year Judge Hawthorne had sentenced more than two dozen women to be burnt at the stake for no fault of theirs but for their mumbling as a result of old age which the puritans took as their uttering the name of Satan! In what way have the wahabis dented the pagan pleasures of India? Some expect too much from the Americans and look for whatever opportunity comes in hand as expediency to show others their place in the country that is home to all its citizens.
The political right in India share with their counter parts in the US and Israel some implausible articles of faith which see nemesis rather than remedy as solution to the besetting problems. The words of Obama that some “measure one’s own faith by the rejection of another’s” is double edged and can cut both the ways equally.
No doubt that Islam rejects the free and easy ways of the West for its licentiousness and promiscuity among many other signs of decadence. But Islam is quite firm and clear that your religion is with you and mine with me and there is no compulsion in religion. Given this as the governing thought of Islam the rejection of hijab by the French President Nicholas Sarkozy and Obama embracing the right of the Muslim vis-à-vis hijab is the concern of two different groups of the Western stream of thought. Their concern is extraneous to Islam as a religion. It may also happen that these two sides would (ex)change their position if their political expediency becomes so emergent at a future time.
Therefore jumping on any bandwagon in a hurry in great expectation is the expediency for a short term gain but is fraught with danger. India made that mistake in regards to terrorism only to realize that its bête noire Pakistan is also on the same side with the Americans. This would mean the Arnold-ian situation of ignorant armies clashing in the dark of the night.
But such is the extremism of the right that the hijab appears as the “danger of Islam” to Bal Thackeray. His expediency of shouting alarm over religion in danger has been played so often and so much that whether Indian leaders are really “thakela and pakela” (tired and bored) is difficult to say, but he is, and this mind set is the result of it.

Ahesan Jafri and Nrendra Modi: “Sale tu abhi tak zinda hai!”
It was a big surprise to see Rakesh Sharma entering the house on April 23, 2009. He is a visionary and I had spent a life time in trailing the vision of others, poets, novelists and film makers. Having imagination as a cementing factor between us we conjectured as to what brought volte face in Ahesan Jafri when he surrendered to the marauding mobs. He had made 200 phone calls including one to Sonia Gandhi but the last call precipitated his personal tragedy in the midst of the holocaust where his death would hardly change anything. So determined was the fate of the victims on that fateful day of February 28, 2002! Did the respondent to him insult him so enormously that he saw no hope? Did he make the last sacrifice to show the frightened refugees within his house that he would give even that for which they had sought refuge there, for their sake?
That was three days before the Supreme Court ordered a thorough investigation into the role of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet and other political leaders as well as leaders of RSS for their alleged role in the massacre of Muslims at the Gulbarg society. The Special Investigation Team would of course deal with it deftly. Coming as it does on the heels of shoe throwing politics and owning up of blame at least as far as Home Minister Chidambrum is concerned there is renewal of hope that the judiciary will save the country from turning over to utter law of the jungle where the centre can not hold and anarchy is let loose and the blood of the innocent is shed amid noise of ceremony of sacrifice of victims. Like the chorus in TS Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral the ordinary people had been agonized by seven long years of suffering and patient waiting for justice to return to the state of Gujarat!
The secret of Modi’s guilt lies in his own election preceding the pogroms. His bete noire was no other than Ahesan Jafri who opposed him on secular grounds. For the demagogue whose only forte is communalism that was a serious challenge. The mortal combat had begun there. What is true for the individual is true for his party. The raison d’ etre of BJP is nothing else than dividing the people on religious lines. Like the Pharaoh how satisfying it would be for him to know how the mob played cricket with the skull of the slain Member of Parliament. That was at the individual level of satisfaction. At the national level the party which refused to mourn the death of the MP in parliament did not want even his name uttered in the august hall of the Parliament where it had just installed the portrait of Savarkar.
The instigating words he spoke at Godhra in the evening of February 27 contain insinuating his mind was nurtured on while he was in the sangh nursery; by means of whisper and rumour get that done which cannot otherwise be done by official diktats. The secret meeting he had with high ranking police and administrative officers where he told them to let the ‘Hindus’ vent their ire on Muslims, and prominent lawyers were briefed as to what was coming for which they must be ready with their defence strategy need close scrutiny. They contain enough evidence of how the chain of command was intact and working.
When the pogrom was in full swing he did not stir out to quell the mob but chose to visit the chhara community. It was this community among the other backward communities which the RSS had roped in to carry out the murder, rape, loot and arson against the Muslims. He blessed their women to have given birth to the men who were committing the heinous crimes. Which prosecution can ignore this, and if it did at whose behest? If the public prosecutors were handpicked by the CM for their inexperience and fawning attitude how long can an enlightened citizenry be tight lipped about it?
Those who are truly enlightened like Tarun Tejpal, Teesta Setalvad, JM Lyndoh, Rakesh Sharma or Sreekumar or President Narayana these are not startling revelations. For they know quite well that man can sink into the darkness of his own heart. They are made of different stuff from the likes of Arun Shouri, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah, Suhil Seth and their ilks. The latter lack the refinement of accepting the truth of the heart of darkness. For them India is still shining, now with Nano!
The Supreme Court order of April 27 for fresh probe follows a petition filed by the widow of Jafri, Jakia Nasim. "The constitutionally elected head of the state and responsible for fundamental rights, right to life and property of all citizens regardless of caste, community and gender. Alleged to be architect of a criminal conspiracy to subvert constitutional governance and the rule of law; unleash unlawful and illegal practices during the mass carnage and thereafter protecting the accused who played direct as well as indirect role and abetted commission of the crime".
The three components of her complaint are clear that Modi was sworn to uphold the fundamental rights, that he himself chose to violate them when he turned an architect of criminal conspiracy against the Muslims and he went further, protected the murderers and rapists and arsonists by gross misuse of official position. In addition Jakia says there were “deliberate attempts to scuttle (impartial investigation into) most of the cases". In one the most well-known cases all these criminal acts merge into the single case of Babu Bajrangi. He acknowledges the help he received from Nrendra bhai as he calls the chief minister. All happened on account of the chief minister. He did a lot of killings himself. Modi harboured him at the Gujarat guest house at Mount Abu when there was a warrant against him. How could the chief minister pretend not to know that the police commissioner had issued order to shoot him (Bajrangi) for his crimes and still provide him safe hideout? He frequently changed judges who were reluctant to abdicate the judicial probity until Justice Rakesh Mehta
came and acquitted him. He is the same justice who finished the remaining work of the Nanavati commission and submitted the report to Gujarat government exonerating Modi of any involvement in the crimes. The very home minister of Gujarat Gordhan Zadaphia had told Bajrangi to go underground. That happened seven years ago and right this very year Modi allowed his minister Maya Kodnani to hide from his own police. She went into hiding with security forces guarding her round the clock.
What Bajrangi and Kodnani did was pure terrorism and they existed well with Modi. Their coexistence is assured for the foreseeable future unless the people or the courts choose differently this time.

Diplomacy of madness: baal habayit histageya
The second week of April 2009 was very crucial in international diplomacy as far as the United States is concerned and its so called “war on terror”. The arena was of course Afghanistan and Pakistan. It was nowhere but here that the US should have been working all the time. But President George W Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair had taken the world for a ride when they ordered invasion of Iraq in the name of fighting terror. That changed the focus away from the real epicenter of terrorism. The shift to Iraq might have been for two reasons, oil and/or Israeli interest in the Middle East. Wrecking one more forward Arab country would serve both the interests. In fact it was simply not connected in any way with the 9/11 as such. It may have been oil, after all. There was also tacit belief that the United States was complicit in genocide in certain places and yet it would next day appear in the UN speaking against genocide. In other words the US and its ally Israel would carry on their genocidal policy in some way or another while the world is concerned with the political upheavals elsewhere. This is what Samantha Power also held but had to leave the Obama election campaign because of her frank opinion about Hillary Clinton.
Since then the US has again figured in the context of genocide in a report of the Amnesty International. A full week before Israel again invaded Gaza on 27th December, George W Bush sanctioned a parting gift of 14, 000 tons of military ammunition including phosphorus filled in 989 containers. The German chartered ship Wehr Elbe sailed from the US on December 20, 2008. The Greek protestors against the Gaza invasion did not allow it to dock in the Greek port and so it straightway went to the Israeli port of Ashdod forty km from Gaza and finished unloading on March 22. President Barack Obama was in office for two months during which he could have halted the delivery but he did nothing because he could do nothing, thanks to the stranglehold of the Jewish lobby. Therefore the contention of Samantha Power proved to be valid. If genocide is “a problem from hell” the Gazans have had it.
It was one of the major grouses for which Mohammad Atta and his fellow fedayeen struck on 9/11. Instead of going full steam against al Qaeda based in Afghanistan the Bush administration diverted their war efforts against Iraq and the result is there for anyone to see. Obama got a fresh mandate to end the war in Iraq. He has now declared a time limit for withdrawal but is also anxious to find out exit strategy from Afghanistan and seems to be embroiled in what has happened in Pakistan during his early days in office. In the meantime he has also espoused the cause of repairing relations with Muslim countries around the globe. Equally worrisome at the same time is the economic meltdown in the US.
Gaza mocks at the failure of the US policy both in terms of fighting terror and genocide. What happened in Gaza was nothing but that. But what is grueling is that it was the US government which provided Israel with weapons and logistical support to carry on the military operation undeterred by what the consequences would be. Against the smokescreen of either the Bush administration ordering a surgical strike against Iranian nuclear plant in its last months in office or letting Israel do it, the US seems to have colluded with its ally for the Gaza aggression. Twenty four days before the new president is inducted the Israelis started their onslaught on a Saturday [their Sabbath day] when the streets of Gaza were ripe for maximum casualty and halted just two days before he assumes office. This shrewd preplanning cannot be without actual connivance of the US establishment. The complicity in all the Israeli action of the US is universally acknowledged despite the claptrap of the self righteous and self justifying attitude of the Israelis and the ‘understanding’ the US administrations show usually chorused after every aggression.
That the Israelis are bent on genocide is illustrated on daily basis yet the US government does not feel any remorse on how its faithful ally behaves. On
Friday April 17 2009 Besham Ibrahim was brutally killed by the IDF. He was part of a peaceful demonstration by unarmed civilians at the borders. He shouted that they were unarmed. The Israeli soldier shot a tear gas canister right into his chest leading to his death. The soldier asked him if he wanted more shooting. There was no stone throwing at the time. This is all caught on camera.
Gaza consisting of eight refugee camps populated by 1.5 million Palestinians displaced from their land of birth through the merciless creation of the Jewish state of Israel still steals the limelight of the world attention. However the world seems even now to be helpless to redress wrongs done to Palestinians in the past, present and the continuing the same into the future.
Although the Palestinians are more secular than their fellow Muslims around the world but they are clubbed together in the amorphous entity of “the other.” The focus on the Talibans and other extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan and their violence is exaggerated to the extent that that crowds out the serious violation of human rights in places like Gaza. Even the Israeli soldiers have been seeped through this undeniable truth and hence they have the slogan “the boss has lost it.” It is mad to kill civilians on such a large scale and it seems also mad to keep on firing rockets into the air when they actually do not damage anything or kill anybody and yet the retribution of it is so disastrous. And reports of people like Lorenzo Cremonesi that nothing really happened in Gaza are the yowl of the mad.
What more of it than George Mitchell visiting the Middle East three times without setting foot in Gaza and Hillary Clinton the new Secretary of State articulating the inarticulate taciturnity of her boss on the issue, Richard Holbrook the diplomat traveling in the army jet of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff Mullen who acts out more diplomatic maneuvers than the diplomat himself.
The most interesting part of all this would be if the Israelis go the whole hog and make full invasion of the Gaza strip every time a rocket is fired from there. If they retaliate with comprehensive invasion and reoccupation of Gaza everytime a Qassem is fire at them they would be really rational and their act based on ratiocination.

Why the world should not be controlled by the Jews?
The geopolitical situation demands that the world must confront Jews particularly the ones who hold absolute sway over arms sale, media and the Zionists. Their control of what information you get and what images emerge through the news channels is playing havoc. The lies they spread control the behaviour of the president and the congress in America to the extent that there is no hope left for the freedom of expression and freedom to hold one’s own in the US itself.
There is also direct threat to the national interests of the people around the world and not of just the Arabs and Palestinians who are worst affected because of the backing of the US to all that the Israelis do in the Middle East. For example India was developing its own missile technology but opted to buy Israeli missiles because of the monetary consideration. The current government signed 10, 000 crore dollar deal with Israel on the sly even when there was CBI inquiry going on. Moreover, Akash surface to air missile was better than the ones Israel has. It was this fact which made the defence ministry official cry out in anguish: “What do we do when we are neck deep with the Israelis?” (DNA, 25-3-09) Being neck deep with the Israelis has made what America is today. It started a war on Iraq making the world believe through its fabricated intelligence reports that that country was developing weapons of mass destruction. It did not care for the UNO and world opinion. No country except Israel must have superiority of military power in the Middle East. Israel has already prevailed upon India to the extent that it is no more the same country that was leader of the nonaligned nations capable of frankly and substantially voicing its dissent against the Jewish state. What is more pertinent in the present context is the direct interference in our affairs. A high ranking Israeli military officer visited Kashmir and opined how India could also use the Israeli tactics of holding land and barricading people as a way of deterring the Kashmiris. It was this advocacy and incident that one of the two terrorists holed up in Chabbad house during Mumbai attack of 26/11gave the media as their grouse against India!
The Israeli Arabs as well as the Palestinians who live and work for the Jewish state do not fare any better than the people of the occupied lands. Palestinian doctor Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish is now nominated for the Nobel peace prize for his eminent work of medical service during the Gaza aggression of December 27-January 18 2008-09 when his own daughters and niece were killed on the last day of the attack. There is a piece of his conversation with the Israeli journalist that needs repeating:
TML: The Israel Defense Forces said they warned you to leave the home. Did you get a notification? Did you get a call from the IDF asking you to leave because of what was happening in Gaza?
Dr. Abu al-Aish: It is painful to hear this lie. We should stop such fabrications. If we are serious about finding a solution (to the Israeli-Palestinian problem) we should be honest with each other, not find excuses. No one contacted me to tell me to leave. They sent pamphlets but not to our area. I think it's your responsibility to go to the area there and to ask if they or anyone else contacted me, or if anyone has the courage to face me and to say that we contacted you, Ezzeldeen.
This cruel and abominable treatment meted out to the doctor is nothing new because there is far worse record documented by some independent media not controlled by Jews which shows that two rabbis who visited North Gaza during the operation encouraged the Jewish army by quoting the Psalm praying the Lord to seize the infants of Israel’s oppressor and dash their brain against the rocks! Who is the real oppressor in the Middle East? Who the real Goliath? In the broad day light when school children were returning home the Israelis struck and killed more than 225 and injured 700 civilians within minutes of the launch of the attack. Most of the victims were children.
This was accomplished by the deadly helicopters and missiles and cluster bombs and phosphorous freely supplied by the US. Nay, the US had the temerity to announce during the operation that more such deadly weapons were on the way to Israel. If Israel is the so called pariah of the world what is the US then? The Jewish lobby sees to it that neither of the two matters.
An independent human rights body called Physicians for Human Rights-Israel and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society has just submitted its report in which it says: "The underlying meaning of the attack on the Gaza Strip, or at least its final consequence, appears to be one of creating terror without mercy to anyone." The same process of fabrication and faking of reports that Jewish media barons are wont of would make the Mohammad Shurrab case appear the fault of the Palestinians rather than an atrocity perpetrated by the Israeli Defence Force. Much like not blaming Bernard Madoff for 65 billion theft but finding fault with the gullible depositors as did the editors of Newsweek, a Jewish owned magazine.
It has been known for many decades that Israel had nuclear weapons. Even before Mordechai Vanunu blew the whistle on it in British Sunday Times in 1986 many suspected that Israel had bombs. However the hold of the Jews was so strong that never before did any adminstration in the US acknowledge it until March 2009 when the US army made it public. That it knew the nucler weapon stock of the Jewish state. In the meantime the US not only connived with this hush up but let Israel attack and destroy the Iraqi Osirak nuclear processing plant in Iraq and also bomb the suspected Syrian secret nuclear plant and is hell bent on attacking Iran irrespective of the fact that Iran has still not reached the weaponizing stage. Nor has it done anything in that regard. This complicity of the duo [Israel and America] does not bode well for the world as it does not get any honest explanation from the super power whose interest in the Jewish state makes it partial to it at the cost of the world. If the only superpower shows this criminal indulgence of treating its satellite state in the Middle East so its heinous intentions are open secret that for the oil in the region it would tell any other big lie and go to any other war and even a third world war. The world must see to it that the US is ‘educated’ properly in this regard. Its hubris has reached Greek tragic proportion as also that of its closest ally in the world, not the Uk with which its cultural past is hereditary, but Israel, whose Jewish influence has crippled its freedom.
On the Iranian nuclear technology day Thursday April 9, 2009 the world should not look at President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad for making a startling announcement but rather at the new hawk Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu if he would order strike at the Natanz uranium enrichment plant.
Given the kind of impunity the Jewish state and the US have shown in dealing with scores of countries around the world, of Latin America and the Middle East alike, it is imperative that such multi internationals as Google should not genuflect before the Jewish interest. It was the email record of the Jewish scientist Mordechai Vanunu which Google furnished to the Israeli government that led to his kidnapping from Italy and susequent imprisonment. He renounced his faith in protest that the leaking nuclear reactor at Dimona posed greater threat to the Isralis themselves as did the Chernobyl to the Russians. The Israelis recently attacked a convoy of trucks killing 50 in Sudan saying that they were carrying missile from Iran which could reach Tel Aviv. Missiles and rockets have been fired at Israel by Hamas. Sometimes others have also launched them into Israel Even the Gaza attacks have not stopped the rockets. They hardly cause any material loss of property or life. Israel knows it too well. But it chooses to score other points rather under the pretext of stopping the rockets from reaching Tel Aviv or Dimona. Of real concern to them is maintaining deterence, for the 2006 war with Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon had badly shaken that deterence. Can the largesse of the Jewish community in the US be allowed to carry on all this unchallenged?
